jrhz06
Just wanted to pass on a great story from last season about Kushog Marina. “Helmets / Hats Off” To Kushog Marina Last winter our group was on Kushog Lake and we decided to top off the thirsty snowmobile tanks at the Kushog Marina to assure we had sufficient fuel for the ride back to Haliburton Lake. Darkness was upon us, but during the fueling process I spied a red 18 litre container near the pump that was illuminated by an overhead flood light. Here is where the “Helmets Off” expression comes into play as there was a sign that read, “Emergency Gas..Tips Appreciated” and of course there was a plastic topped coffee can weighted with a stone to deposit your tip. According to the owners the fuel container surprisingly is often found empty in the morning and the coffee can ALWAYS has a tip generally greater than the value of the fuel. This is a small but outstanding way that this Marina supports the sport and snowmobilers appreciate their good deed… especially after business hours when a snowmobiler is low on fuel, stressed, it’s dark, the store is closed and temperatures are below zero. Again “Helmets Off” to Kushog Marina….Possibly other fueling locations will consider this emergency fuel availability idea. Kushog Marina is owned and operated by Paul and Tammy Wilson located on Kushog Lake, Algonquin Highlands, Ontario. Viperules700
Excellent story and glad to see people aren't ripping off the marina either. Be great for this sort of thing to continue.
