From the Bancroft Times:

On Saturday, March 30, Haliburton Highlands OPP responded to a serious snowmobile collision in Highlands East.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. the victim, a 49-year-old Aurora, Ont. man was operating his Skidoo snowmobile and collided with a tree.

As a result of the collision the male was fatally injured.

OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators attended the scene and conducted a scene investigation.

It appears that speed and alcohol were contributing factors to the collision, and the deceased was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

The investigation is ongoing.

Tragic. Alcohol and no helmet! So sad for those left behind to reconcile.

Very tragic for the family indeed. There was no reason for that.

Drunk and no helmet...............

Frankly you can't fix stupid !!

I feel for his family but it was his decisions that caused the result.

Very sad. I've often seen guys go for a quick rip on the lake/parking lot/road without a helmet and I cringe every time. It only takes one time...

Condolences to the family.

Very true. I've dealt with that first hand. Always put a helmet on, no matter what
