  1. The issue I've had was not electronic. It was actual engagement. It was trying to shift, but it wouldn't occur.
  2. is there a fix that actually works for these sleds?? or do they all suffer from the reverse that won;t engage without the shimmy rocking of the sled to make it engage? I had an 07 Phazer and it was terrible for this. Just curious if the newer units were any better or if they all suffer from this flaw??
  3. The upgraded bumper is still aluminum. It's just built heavier. It was aluminum on my 04 rev as well. But the heavy one came from the factory.
  4. No so they can sell it back as an accessory. The XRS with the upgraded gauge from the factory only has one trip meter.
  5. Yep totally agree. One is my trip mileage and one is from the last fuel stop.
  6. I think it's a point worth bitchung about. In 2004 if you bought a gsx you got - heavy bumper that needed a $30 hitch to tow a sleigh - a tunnel bag - mirrors - a gauge cluster with two trip meters - 2 carbides per ski Now you buy a renegade Enduro and everything on the list is extra. I'm sure its helped BRP's profits, but there comes a point as a consumer when you look at the situation and have to really question whether your needs are being addressed. If Polaris produces a 4 stroke in the 90 - 130 hp range in the axis chassis with the new rear end I'll jump ship. Until then I'll ride what I have. Disapointing BRP. You can do better.
  7. No pics, but it was north from Hornepayne April 15th. Great season. When is the 2020 season going to start again???
  8. It again depends on the weather, but when I ran that stretch near Powassan it was snow covered road running and was nothing detrimental. It does run for a while, but I think its blown out of proportion. The majority of the time that road is snow covered. One of those sections that 80% of the time is fine. The other 20% its brutal. There is a few other big road running sections south of Kearney north of Dwight as well. Same scenario. RAP is not dead. It's still the great tour it has always been. I would recommend it. Especially in mid February.
  9. What was the issue Halfway had this year? Late start due to trail issues? Or is there more to it than that (low traffic, facility issues???)
  10. The existing trail isn't in question. This is a new route that would go downtown. It would be a great addition to what already exists.
  11. Wow this is pretty resounding. Guess I'll try a set. I had heard that they were a good choice handling wise. My main concern was how well they wore. If you've got 7000 kms from them then that's as good as any other carbide I could buy.
  12. Anyone run these? How do you find them for handling and do they last? Running the aggressive or semi aggressive versions?
  13. How is everyone finding these? Have heard some reports of defective shields? Just curious what the majority are experiencing. Was it a good purchase for those that have bought already?
  14. So 14 L per 100 km roughly. Not bad for an 800.
  15. The ACE 4 strokes get very good mileage at trail speeds (40 - 80 km/hr). If you start running them wide open or in heavy snow the mileage numbers fall off considerably to the point that higher horsepower sleds get better mileage. I do think a 600 e-Tec will beat the 900 ace in mileage in most conditions. It won’t beat the 600 ACE. The mileage readout on my 900 ACE reads 11 litres per 100 km in my last big trail ride. That was with good trail conditions (groomed and -15 out) riding at trail speeds 40 - 80 km/hr.
  16. We did Saint Michel Des Saints to La Tuque this year. First trip into Quebec of any real significance. I found the signage comparable to the Muskokas in Ontario in the Saint Michel Des Saints area. Not bad, but not great. Over in the Manawin, La Tuque and Shawinigan areas signage was stellar. Not a chance you could get lost. Grooming was very good in all areas we rode. Didn't find a trail that hadn't seen a groomer within the last 72 hours. Many were freshly groomed. Of 700 km might have rode 20 km total that I would consider rough and the next day that section had been re-groomed. Snow coverage was good especially compared to what was at home in mid January this year. Accommodations were great and everything was trail accessible. Permits for three days cost a bit, but I felt we got our money's worth. I think the big difference / advantage Quebec has is their snow belt is near the major population centres in the province. It means more people can ride more often and associate value with their permits. The trail system was busy (mid week and weekend), but not so busy that the trails were screwed. Theft is a concern. Go buy a bike lock and lock your sleds together. Definitely recommend going. I will be back to Quebec for sure for future trips. Lots if areas to explore. Had a blast!!! I recommend you go try it. Language was never an issue. Be polite and you'll find a way to get what you want. Everyone we met was helpful.
  17. The most a heated shield should ever draw is less than 2 amps. It's peanuts for load. Even a # 18 wire will easily carry the current. I've had no issues with the tv cords. Just ensure the heated cord line in the sled is fused. Because there is two male ends there is always a risk of the live end falling out of the helmet and shorting out on the running board. These cords need to be fused. I don't know how the manufacturers get away with providing sled connection cords for the battery that don't have fusing built in.
  18. Go to Best Buy and buy a vga cable for your tv. Then cut it in three. The cords will just pull apart from each other. With little effort. You end up with three good helmet cords (one with red ends, one with yellow and one with white). I use one and packed the others in my saddle bags. Cords break regardless of manufacturer. It's been my experience. This way you don't care. Loose one or break it. Just move onto the next in your bag.
  19. Next week. Over 50% is open now. It's a lack of ice in some areas that is the real issue. Lots of snow up there.
  20. Does Lake Barnard take long into the season to freeze? Wondering if Northrodge will be accessible in two weeks time. Also how pricey is their dining room? Looks like it'll fit the bill, but the rooms are $200 a night. I can stomach that, but not another $150 for dinner.
  21. Anyone tried Northridge Inn at South River? Or Morning Mist Resort in Stonecliff? Thinking I'd start in Bancroft or Whitney. So these two kinda lined up. Could push on to Petawawa. Planning to run it clockwise with the second day being the longest. Can you get from South River to Stonecliff on a tank of fuel? Or is a trip into Mattawa a must?
  22. Thinking of running this with the wife. Where can we stay that is nice? Looking at three 200 mile days. So three resorts spaced out evenly around the loop where there is good food and nice rooms. Not over the top, but nice.
