Why don't we all just bail on the organization for a year and then expect it to still be there when normal life returns? We're buying $10,000 - $20,000 machines. Why are we concerned about risking $200 on a season we all want? If it's a total wash bitch after the fact and I'm sure something will happen at that point (never a full refund, but something more than this). In the interim buy your pass and give the organization the re-assurance it needs to get on with planning for this season. Last time I checked new groomers were already being bought and some deliveries have occured with more to come. Like it or not there is fixed costs to be paid to keep this ship moving forward.

Lol we will see.

Well my insurer got back to me. $300 a year roughly to insure with non licensed operators. So that answers that one. Probably makes sense to get an ownership if it's an option. Now to go shopping.
-
The 300 cc sno skoot is different from a 120 isnt it? I believe it is actually trail legal where as a 120 would not be. Not sure if this has a bearing on things?
-
Just looking for some info on the 120 cc sleds. Do they come with an ownership? Do you have to pay taxes on a used purchase? And are they tough to get insurance for with the kids being the drivers?

Would be nice if groomer delay was shown like Quebec and New Brunswick.

Yeah the entire hydro line is still rideable. You just have the head for Kennisis Lake. You know what I meant.

Ok something to pass the time (also to give me some new riding areas to check out next season). List your top 5 and the reasons why. 1. Top A - Petawawa to Mattawa Golf and Ski - Awesome pipeline running. Big wide and open. Well looked after by three clubs. 2. Trail 960 in Old Hastings maze. Big wide logging road. And well the rest of the maze is awesome too. Just don't get lost. Minimal traffic on great roads with consistent grooming. 3. Top B whitney to Eagle lake. What can you say. The hydro line road just rolls. Nice and open. One of only a few trails in Algonquin park. Just be careful on an overcast day as it can be tough to tell where the trail runs when the snow and the sky are the same colour. Has a real remote feel despite being in central ontario. 4. NB308. Not too far from civilization. Again those big open roads with little traffic. Lookout off NB304 is worth checking out as well 5. A111C outside Timmins. Just a good wide club trail. Running by the mines and the hull trucks is interesting to see while on a tour. Anyways that's mine. What trails are on your Ontario favourites list?

" Florida's closed" - If this continues, I'm buying a snowmobile

Yep they probably lied. Most likely said they were coming for essential work. -
This could go either way for the sledding season. I'm predicting a banner season with above average sled and permit sales. Not too many folks going south this winter. Let's be honest anyone reading this forum in July is buying a permit in October. We all have too much interest in the sport to risk sitting out for a season. Only thing I'm second guessing is buying Quenec permits. May just go the day pass route again this winter for la belle province riding. No one likes the early end last year, but it was the third week in March. Not many trips were lost over it. OFSC made the right call for the time. No one has more interest in keeping the majority of the trails open than OFSC.

Yeah big east show in new york was just cancelled as well. Tough to say what will occur in Ontario. In some ways different situation here. In other ways no different at all.
-
Not that it effects us much in Ontario, but they just called it today. Postponed to 2021.

Thanks Blake. Great info.

Thanks for the reply blake. What are we talking difference in height? 5" - 6"? Anyone running superclamp rear in these style of trailers? Do they work as well as in a clamshell? Or are they a pain to get lined up properly with the tighter quarters between sleds? Also was wondering would there be enough room in the trailer for 2 - 137" sleds plus a snow skoot? And maybe a pelican toboggan? We ride into our cottage (no plowed road) and it would be a huge time saver to bring the toboggan home and load and unload it as opposed to leaving it at the lake which means an extra trip of several miles to get it at 8pm on a Friday night. Looking ahead and I can see the sno scoot for the kids in our future. Just not sure if this trailer fits the bill or if I need to go to a v-nose. Really don't want to get into something that is huge.

Thought I might resurrect this thread. Slomo what are your thoughts on your trailer after a seasons use? Did you have any issues with it? Been doing my own comparison between the Bullit and the TC167. Are they the same height and width? Or is the Triton slightly larger? Do you ever use the front door that isn't available on the Triton? How do you find the ramp to drive on and off? Noticed they don't have the end of the door cut down on an angle to facilitate the skis getting on it the way the Triton does.
-
Yeah maybe so.
-
No reason for the vest is to get the oncoming traffic to slow down. They see the vest and think you are opp or trail patrol. So you get less idiots running by you at full speed. Novel idea really.
-
Totally agree. That said its clear proof of what works. Stop ahead signs almost all riders slow down for. Slow signs get ignored by too many.
-
Intersection wasn't signed as an all way stop was it?
-
Yeah I agree Birds Creek is a good spot. Just trying to expand where we can get to in the days run. Railbed running has gotten rather boring so Maynooth cut a bunch of that running out.
-
Not saying it's a right, but the small town hospitality is certainly lost when you go down this route. They are a business that benefits greatly from the sport. I'd be the first to buy gas and a snack from them every trip by. Fact is I can park at one of the other local restaurants or on a township sideline free of charge in the area and would certainly thank those businesses for letting me. It just threw me. I won't be returning to park and ride from there and am now doing my homework which is what this thread is all about.
-
Ok great. Is the spot in Maynooth public property? Only reason I ask is I learned the hard way last year that some businesses in the area are getting foolish. Parked at Trudy's on 62 only to come back at end of day to a note on my windshield from the owners stating they felt I needed to pay them for parking. Couldn't believe it. Someone trying to charge for parking 30 km out in the bush from Bancroft. I'd just like to avoid a repeat issue.
-
Is there any places near Maynooth to park and ride from?
-
I have the same truck. Do you find you are fighting pulling over hills, etc with the TC167? I have been very happy pulling the Elite with 2 sleds in tow. Hardly even know it's there the vast majority of the time. Wondering if this is worth the expense. Only complaints with the elite is it can be a fight to load sleds on icy surfaces. Skis hit the deck and everything stops. Also a foot of wet snow on the roof really sucks when it occurs.

Sorry meant 101" wide by 11' long.
