  1. Interesting. I like the little cheater guy too, and have had better luck using it as opposed to relying solely on one longer cord, for the reason you mentioned. Having said that, though, it is the cheater that quit working this last time. I like the idea of the adhesive clip and would use one if I knew where to get one.
  2. I didn't realize the tv cables were the same. I think I have some of them lying around the house in their original packaging.
  3. Yes it's my "cheater" that quit working this time. The wee 90 degree one that goes between the helmet and the longer cord that plugs into the sled.
  4. Looking for input or advice about cords for a heated visor. I'm talking about the cord that plugs in at the visor and connects to the outlet on the sled. Are they all the same, or are some better than others? It seems that I need to buy one or two of these cords every season, because they become lost or damaged. It seems the cords like to fall out of my helmet and get stepped on. I've always purchased whatever was on the rack at various retailers.
  5. Welcome, drpaul. I agree with your comment about the riskiness of solo sledding. This site is a great place to find folks for sledding, and to share sledding information.
  6. Some folks prefer non-motorized use only.... http://millstonenews.com/2016/05/cpr-line-to-become-trail-usage-debate-begins.html
  7. Here's a video from my ride yesterday, Saturday, March 12, 2016, near Kearney. I am posting this in case you are looking for something to do today. An excellent spring conditions ride, thanks to adequate snow cover and persistent grooming by Highland Rovers. They have no plans for further grooming this season. Found some dog sled teams sharing the D102B - - they're in another video that I haven't posted. If anyone wants to take advantage of this riding before it disappears, go to the east edge of Kearney on Rain Lake Road, then park and unload on Pine Drive near Echo Ridge Road. Ride east on D, south on D101B to D102B, east to 95, and then north on 95. When you get into the bad snirt and road running before Bay Lake, turn around and retrace to your unloading location. Round trip is about 100 km, so you might want to repeat. If you are the adventurous type, you will also find some ungroomed logging roads worth investigating (crown land). The video is 7 minutes long and a little boring if you are looking for anything other than an old guy enjoying himself on a Polaris 550 fan. Only you can decide if you should you tell any non-OCERS about these trails.
  8. always encouraging the Polaris riders that's why I had to get one again
  9. Nice shot. Great to see the quantity of snow, and the variety of sledding iron.
  10. Revrnd, thank you for keeping the data base up to date. What a task that must be. Arundel Lodge is not open in the winter. There is no snowmobile trail within three miles of it.
  11. That all makes sense. However, regarding another similar trail closure last year - a trail that our club knew we would not be able to groom - we were told by our district that it was not ok for our club to leave the trail on the ITG because it was misleading to sledders. District said it was a simple matter to have the trail removed and supposedly just as simple to have it added back on to the ITG later if circumstances changed. The district administrator put through the request and the trail disappeared from the ITG, for now at least.
  12. If the trail is indeed "permanently" closed, the club needs to ask for it to be totally removed from the ITG. It is a simple procedure. In my opinion. LOL
  13. Ok then. I was getting worried there for a minute that you were on a reducing plan.
  14. I had a 294 Silver Bullet and put on lots of good miles over a couple of seasons with no problems. I liked it better than my friend's 294 SS Elan. I also had a friend with a 340 Silver Bullet and another with a 440. They both switched to El Tigres after one season.
  15. STG Why weren't you wearing your toque in the picture you showed the other day, the one where you were chopping the ice with an axe? Being out in the cold like that without a proper hat! A man could get pneumonia.
