  1. Yes, for sure and has been noted on a few occasions on other recent threads. However, as Nutter brought up, sometimes this message is not received very well or respectfully by the group not following the rules and there is now the possibility of a confrontation that most rather avoid or perhaps not equipped to deal with. The simple fact is there is no fear or penalty big enough right now to stop it - it is a joke what could happen to those not following. You have a can - sled is towed & hefty fine is issued You have no trail pass - sled is towed & hefty fine is issued You trespass - this one is likely a harder one to deal with, but a much bigger fine would go a long way
  2. I have witnessed this on more occasions that should never happen - OPP not even looking at the trail pass, I am the one bringing it to their attention as the most important item based on trail usage and how the system works.
  3. The campaign needs to be followed up with firm enforcement…. not just to get the bad apples reduced but to help put some sense of belonging back into those that volunteer and are deflated.
  4. 100 percent, but this has limitations on reach or hard heads - that’s where harder enforcement comes in to curve by catching those in the act and others hearing about those harder lines now being drawn.
  5. You mean just asking all to follow the rules and insert pretty please just don’t work these days. There definitely needs to be some hard lines drawn and enforced to see any changes. I wonder if the OFSC encourages a softer approach so not to discourage new ridership, I know they don’t enforce things, but I’d assume their voices are heard at that level that encourages change.
  6. Ya, there is definitely more to this than contacting the guys to say thanks - that could just be a public verbiage to say thanks & move on.
  7. Were you shedding a tear there Nunz - I know you are a passionate man about the Poo and sledding ..... I see Kerry has been busy with his updates lately regarding the trails, accidents, etc.....
  8. Yes, it is odd that it shows Red for the period they state it is open - but unless they get a snow fall every Thurs night to improve the bare trail, should it really be considered open?
  9. Well, technically that is correct - 6KM of trail plowed down to gravel = lack of snow coverage
  10. Thanks. I just checked over there and you are correct! http://www.quebecrider.com/forums/index.php?/topic/9018-355-closed/
  11. Yep, that is the one......73/83 up and 355 return. Hopefully it changes by Thursday....if not, we just go back the same way we came. QC is down on snow, especially some parts more than others. And thank you!
  12. Thank you. I realize lack of sleds are one of the reasons for lack of updates, sadly….hope you get some positive news soon.
  13. As nutter and zoso pointed out recently on another thread, it is us that need to try harder to curve this by not riding with folks that are the route cause and I also think when you are talking about sledding with like minded people you run into, these are great points to bring to light or discuss because you never know if the stranger you talk with are part of the problem or perhaps their friends are that this message might be shared with ….and this can also be an affective tool, imo.
  14. Six more days before we head to QC…..can’t wait. Glad to have some miles on new iron to get some things dialed in. Need to adjust track tension by the looks of it, grease trailer, install my muffs (I realized I really missed wearing thin gloves the last few seasons vs my heavier klim gloves that I used lately), pack and should be good. One of the trails we had planned to take on our last day is show closed, I was hoping it’d be open by now. Have not seen a ton of trip updates from others yet, so figured I’d get this TTT.
  15. Ya, see that on phone app now…..on my computer when I mentioned only half earlier, it was red…. Odd.
  16. Simcoe has ice huts now where there was open water a week ago….been some good ice making temps!
  17. Both sides - half way up though.....
  18. Well, the Kawagama TV updates are still coming and the new owners seem to be getting more comfortable with the YouTube updates - and most importantly, conditions are getting better! No open trails in the TP area, but I imagine that will change this week.
  19. I think you would have been fine with the lakes & some roads. I read people are running LOB, I think I read or heard Raven lake is staked, Kenissis had plenty of tracks (I was just there) & some lakes in the forest are staked as well. So the lakes are ahead of the trails for sure this year.
  20. Only experience we have had, that I recall, is in Val-d'or a couple of sleds were gone the next morning. Place was packed, sleds parked all over the place, but two were the unlucky ones to come out to a surprise.
  21. Knock on wood, we have never had issues either - of course you always heard about this and how theft can be bad, I always wondered if it is one of those tails that tends to get exaggerated.
  22. x2 - wow, that is a bad failure in only a couple of years.
  23. Not knocking the DESS, but I think it gives people a false sense of security like it is some super anti-theft device.
  24. You seem extremely focused on the non working DESS on the 2022 Doo's - yes it is concerning that it does not work for now, but even with a working DESS, just look above, still stolen. Look at @scottyr, they took sled (w/ working DESS) & a trailer. As mentioned, a thief will take what they are after, no matter what. There are post DESS locks in lieu of working DESS, but just a roadblock to a thief......might be a good year to add another locking system for good measure, but people are desperate & bored, which = more theft.
