  1. and make some more money on the sale of a pre-season sled. If delivery dates get extended, you know some folks will back out for sure.
  2. Other than the price tag of the Mach, I do not think the increase from 21 to 22 was that bad given everything else. I think the 23's will be a different story though.

I think for many it is also about getting together as a whole org for some socializing and share what each do, that works or does not work, etc.... I get that some may find this an unproductive way to spend some money too - but for some this is getting a little back for all the volunteering, and is that such a bad thing.
  4. LOL...no worries, all these details surrounding cottage and winter use is helpful. Plus, I am not one to get worked up over these things
  5. Ya, I remember the pictures of it and all the work that went into it.....it was not on the small side for sure. Good news on the update / relocation, I had no idea. Stayed on the same general area, but in a much better spot, IMO.
  6. The layout of the cottage plays a big factor no doubt. If I recall details from when Nutter Reno’d the place him and I think a few others have, it was a two story structure in cottage and the garage too, that will be harder to heat and take longer to heat up vs. a single story open concept with wood stove. Lots of good info here though based on what works for each circumstance!
  7. I am just reading this thread and thinking to myself how much value would the heated seat offer.......but I guess you do not know until you try and then you might wonder how you managed without it! As for made in China - even there there is better made options vs. the products that are borderline acceptable.
  8. That is my worry, you think all okay if not heated, until one year it is and requires an expense and time that could of been avoided by simply leaving a little heat on in the basement.
  9. Yep.....sometimes thing can bite you, or in this case, me as the repair guy......
  10. Thanks - If we end up with this place, that is what we will try first before making any changes.
  11. Just a social visit I assume, perhaps some accessory talk…. Not hearing much news on 900T-R deliveries, especially any of the Mach’s….
  12. Depends who you talk to and what story you get
  13. Great point… product is selling itself, why have an expense
  14. Aren’t most of the booths run by businesses, so likely paid? Not all of course, so that is another factor no doubt. I also think people in general are still very reluctant to get invested in these things given the environment….. as a business there is an expense to a show that I think on a normal year did not have the greatest returns, likely worse now….or flip side could be great if you look at the spike in the market for the vehicles in this market.
  15. Should have never been a factor, IMO….especially as an outdoor event, but that’s another discussion.
  16. Wait for it......those selfish & spoiled snowmobilers think the world revolves around them It really is too bad about this, but given the premise for the show (outdoor enthusiasts), it is very odd that plans were not in the works a while ago to make it an outdoor show....perhaps there is more to the story...
  17. Redid my dads place with pex in the spring when a bunch of copper fittings blew apart when I went up to get water running for him. I asked him, “dad, you sure you drained the system last fall”…..he says as far as I know I did…. Lol.
  18. Water concern is an easy thing to get past - drain before leaving & risk is gone or minimal. Just the foundation is the concern knowing the old owner lived there full time so was always heated to date, which part of me says all will be good & not to worry, but of course if there is an issue, that is a hefty repair bill that rather not deal with - so having some heat on when not there removes that risk & adding a furnace possibly will lower the monthly expense for a few months of the year where it is of a concern. Talking to an Engineer will likely just give me worst case scenario and likely plant more seeds of doubt - hearing from real life examples from people with same situation, personally means a lot more to me, which so far, there are quite a few listed here as well some good feedback based on the situation !
  19. Beats cottage country traffic! My wife’s grandparents used to fly to their place years ago.
  20. I agree as well, poured is far better - and with blocks, there is an added concern.....plus usually a block foundation is older that generally will not have an external barrier system installed. However I would not consider a cottage because it has blocks, rather no basement altogether, just trying to take all things into consideration. Our current house has blocks on the old side of it, with a cinder block knee wall - was such a wonderful building practice back in the day.....
  21. Highly unlikely anyone that frequents here would have an issue with the increase. Permit talk, cooler air outside, sleds showing up at dealers.....hopefully there will some more sled discussions around here in the coming weeks
  22. There are already baseboards there throughout main floor and basement, just not sure of the number of them, but they are there for sure......of course the hydro bill to keep them on low during the cold months is unknown, but potentially considering a furnace install if it is stupid monthly hydro bills is not a bad thing to do either or that hard either. Basement is poured concrete floor, no exposed bedrock and the foundation walls are cinder blocks with a stucco installed on the exterior. The cottage was built into the side of a hill, so only half of the cottage is below grade, the other half is above grade......so that is good in my eyes. Nothing fancy for building materials either.....wood siding, carpet & vinyl flooring, etc.....so nothing to worry about there.
  23. Should be interesting to hear the comments from some on this.....the sky just might be falling..... I think $9.99 would have been a better number to start off with personally.....still gives you that mental block that some may have and be in the the single digits. I have no idea on permits sold, but lets say it was 75,000 last year - that is $375k, that I am sure is welcomed by many!
  24. A little more info on why I am asking this......we are looking at cottages and one of interest has come up that happens to have a basement that is partially finished and the other half is the utility room. The previous owner lived here year round. Having a cottage with a basement is not on our checklist as our intentions for winter use is not to have have running water, etc....so I am wondering what people that have a basement / foundation do in the winter as it brings into the equation a concern for me or at least something that needs to be considered. My initial thought is I would want to keep it heated somewhat when not there to avoid issues with the structure. It has baseboards now that can be left on but adding a furnace would likely be a good investment for this purpose and still heat when there with the wood stove. Draining the water, etc....before we leave is not an issue to make those modifications to allow that, the water line right now to the cottage is a heated one as well. Thanks for the feedback thus far!
  25. That is currently an unknown, but I’ve done some reading and that is best case scenario for this situation. Given the surrounding, I don’t think it is.
