  1. Simcoe has just a wee bit of water sitting on top of the ice right now....might be able to use the boat ... lol People will need to get there huts above the water line soon though or pulling them out just got a whole lot more difficult. Saw an ATV'r running across this morning - lots of splish splashing.
  2. Regarding the windshield, I agree and think the medium windshield would be a really good investment for northern tour riding (or bigger if you are prone to being cold) - I have the factory one and although I never felt really cold, you can definitely feel the coldness hitting your chest causing a chill, at least for me I did, usually later in the day after riding for a few hours. I will likely invest in one next year. I cannot say enough about muffs, must have on any tour riding or cold days - keeps your hands toasty warm in all conditions and allows you to wear real thin gloves preventing finger fatigue. The Doo ones fit the sled as though it is a factory part too.
  3. I rode my brothers RR 9000 that had a tune and even it did not feel no where as nimble or light as mine - but in fairness, I was not riding the way I normally do seeing as it was not my sled......had to give it back in one piece.

    Helmets.

On my last sled with the 1.75" track, I would normally opt to stay at the back due to the chunks that it threw. On a recent ride, buddy on a Poo Assault would spit out slush chunks, I think his track was a cobra 1.35" (???) - when it was real cold, they instantly froze on the visor.
  5. Well, it is real live feedback on the sled that is being considered - so good info in that context!
  6. I assume this is at or around RPM engagement that it surges? Why not install the X / XRS primary weights that will fix the issue if it is a weight/ramp issue.
  7. I am not trying to convince you of anything and I have never rode a 1200, but you must have noticed the wife's 900 did not feel like the 1200 did? My 900 is playful, blip the flipper and she jumps up instantly, hitting some bigger bumps and not an issue - is it heavier, yes, but does not feel like it is all that much heavier. For sure pros & cons between the two engine options and I get where you ride, having a 4 stroke is not something to consider for you.
  8. I have not experienced any surging or jerking at all ever no matter the speed or terrain, but your sled has slightly different clutching than mine, but that should not matter, not as though we are dealing with a race prepped clutch kit, these are designed for average Joe to ride. Have you had a dealer check things out with a scanner - maybe throttle sensor not reading the way it should, but I suspect that would give you a code.
  9. I have a Rene-X with the same motor, different clutching and shocks though (as well a few other things) - the sled is fun to ride and quite happy with it. Up to around 95 MPH it is fast, after that is where they seem to struggle and not be consistent. So for trail riding, corner to corner, it is a great sled and I would be surprised if it would see a 2-smoke tail light with the very broad power band that it has from low to high......which then it would likely be the rider causing that vs. the sleds performance. Across the lake on a speed run, I do not doubt that it will see the tail light of other sleds, but some seem to run way better than others (inconsistent). As for the smart shocks, have not heard any one say bad about them, they work really good - the only thing that could likely be done to improve on them is allow the rider to fine tune each setting to their liking vs. the factory default for each mode. I believe you are touring type of guy vs. weekend warrior or lake racer, so I think you will enjoy it.
  10. So what I read is you are starting to warm up to the 4-stroke .....
  11. Do you have the option this year to see or try the 2023? Maybe some actual seat time will pursued you to order the 2023..
  12. Most of the trails I rode yesterday were groomed and passed one groomer as well. As for people staying off the trails - you know that will not happen.
  13. Noticed the corrections as well this morning. Hopefully turns out to be not that bad.
  14. Good to hear! So she thinks its perfect but you find steering heavier than it should be? Might be time for some weight lifting..... She has the 900 non Turbo I think - you need to try the turbo. I recently switched sleds with my Brother who has a RR 9000 and jumping back and fourth, the CAT does seem to feel more spacious - but my Doo was far more comfortable over his RR.
  15. How is the wife liking the new Doo?
  16. I ended up staging near Kinmount at the parking lot for one of the forest tracts - Local OPP save unit also rolled in just as I was leaving. Rode to Dorset via Minden - I cannot believe how much more road running there is now going this way, I do not recall this much the last time I ran through Minden. Grabbed gas in Dorset and was planning to get lunch too but the restaurant was not open - ended up being about 8 sleds that pulled in right after me looking for the same thing but no dice. Was not running back the way I came so headed over to Haliburton instead and then to Kinmount. Some sections of trail are in really good shape, others sections, not so much. There was a fair amount of traffic. When I arrived back to the parking lot, OPP guys pulled in just after me - they went as far as Haliburton, mentioned busier than they were expecting, all that they checked were in their forties and a good day. The guy at the Shell in Dorset suggested they were going to get snowmageddon and the forecast guys are all wrong like always - I like the way he thinks.

    Helmets.

Full of snow?? Frost will form around the ports on the inside at the front on the left and right side that is away from your face.....this is from the warm air from your mouth being drawn out through the ports that exit at the rear of the helmet - obviously the colder it is outside, the more frost forms, but it a non issue. Bubbled visors should be a warranty item.
  18. I’m enroute already ! šŸ‘
  19. Rock solid base maybe afterwards, if the base there now survives ?!?!?
  20. Yes, it sucks - one day of rain, but snow right after it too. Next week is not too bad either, snow almost every day in the forecast - not around here, but not too far North. I think things will be fine - hopeful at least.
  21. Hey, everyone else is cashing in on this stupidity we have lived in for 2 years.
  22. So from 4 to 3 to 2.....I think I remember you calling this out a little while ago.
  23. I personally do not like the new plastics - reminds of the mountain sleds.
  24. Well, if you had a few kids or rode the mountains, you might feel different ! Kind of surprised they made no mention of how they have made adjustment to avoid a repeat of last/this year - which I know would not mean much given things that are out of their control, but good damage control I think.
