  1. Ya, and based on the 2-smoke builds & there power output that seems as though POO is currently the leader of, I cannot see how the 4S will not follow suite in the not so distant future.
  2. Well, crap if you do not go far. If willing and able to travel, it has not been that bad - slow start, trail issues, etc......but I think it has turned out not too bad. Local'ish for sure has been hard for some. Head scratcher for sure how long the high will last.
  3. Could very well see some strong offers on possible used sleds - I assume the market is still silly.
  4. And who is getting rid of their current ride before the new iron shows up
  5. LOL, see.....maybe a large house cat We have seen lynx too, I think it would be hard to mix the two up though, of course depending how far away you are.
  6. Squaring up its next meal no doubt !!
  7. And a cougar (animal type) is on track ... I have always heard people talk about seeing them, usually turns into people suggesting they do not live in these parts (Ontario) ...... sure would scare the crap out of me to see one, especially if it decided to stop and investigate vs. carrying on. Pretty cool to hear about it though.
  8. I am thinking there was some confusion - a groomer operator is paid when they groom the trail but if by chance they also volunteer for signage, trail prep, etc....that is not a paid position for those activities, just the grooming part. Where it might get a little complicated I am thinking is when a sled with a drag is used to groom a small feeder trail, does that count as grooming hours and a paid activity (grooming) - I am thinking this has been discussed in the past, but I do not recall how this situation plays out......I think the answer is no, does not count towards grooming hours.
  9. Yep, trails were good. Secondary trails had far less wash out and ice in corners though 👍.

    Helmets.

ORPS? They had quite a few earlier on with more coming in.

    Helmets.

That’s a small head …. lol. Im sure you’ve already inquired but Rosseau seem to have good inventory earlier on of these helmets.
  12. For sure a very small group that would want to do it for a wage and than next criteria is doing it well. Given the change in winds and hurtles, definitely needs some more serious thought that is actually obtainable.
  13. Groomers are a paid position within the OFSC if I am not mistaken,, still doesn't mean there is a line up of people waiting to do it, but that has to help lure a few more people to be willing to do it.......has it changed that groomers are not paid .
  14. I’ve always been a stock belt guy myself, but the aftermarket belt has so much good reviews figured something must be special about it other than the price….not the case. Maybe it excels with some clutch work too, but frankly I’ve done that in the past and not into those things anymore, just want to ride.
  15. So I started my sled off from the start with with the ultimax belt vs the Doo belt, at first it rev’d to around 7900rpm but it never went much over 100mph…..but got there fast. Started to notice max rpm was now only 7600rpm and around 100mph was where it would get to and not go much further….hit a wall so to speak. Finally decided to put the Doo belt on but hadn’t got a chance to do any lake runs to see what the difference was, finally did today and sled rev’d to 7900 again but Speedo was now climbing past 100, I let off at 110 and returned to truck. I knew running the ultimax belt could use some clutch work to maximize its use, but didn’t think it would make that much of a difference.
  16. Funny enough no issues this year either.
  17. Curious, when you state the above, is that something that I assume the OFSC stepped up and did to keep this open with hope things would work out? Otherwise, the above really makes sense - stop the bleeding, no matter the cost and look for the "right" fix......if that is possible. Sounded like things were on track with an abrupt change - so something went a miss that appears to not even cause or see the owner reach out for some help to overcome the hurtle, at least to complete the season, that is really too bad seeing as I am thinking mid Feb to mid/end of Mar for that area is likely the busiest for them.
  18. Sucks this happened, but as sledders and we see a place close shop due to too much snow - is that a good thing or bad thing Place I am sure could use new blower or tractor or tractor with a blower, that have a hefty price tag I am sure and an extra body here or there to help out, but no ones knows how much snow will fall or how much business will come. I am not sure how this place or other similar lodges do it in ON, similar place in QC have team A that comes in for x number of days, they leave & team B comes in for x number of days, they leave, rinse and repeat. Usually see the folks working long hours everyday the entire time they are there, but I have not ran into anyone that is not happy doing it either - they are having fun. Maybe totally different kind of folks, no idea.
  19. I was thinking just North West of La Tuque, not that far up to Roberval (not that it is that far really). It seemed like we passed cabins on the way up trail 83 and talking to the folks at the lodge it sounded like the winter season for them was long & there busiest time of the the year, do not recall the exact months she mentioned, but she said during peak season they see 350 sleds that pass through there a day.
  20. Watch out for the Pappineau forest - a man, or in this case a group of sledders can get lost in there Talking to a local about how cheap it was to buy camps/lodges in the area as you head up to Lake Saint Jean between La Tuque - however it sounded like all were on leased land. I think they get a pretty good snow season most years.
  21. Hopefully the small amounts that will fall the next few days helps out.
  22. @Turbo Doo - Ever considered applying for a position at the OFSC as a communication specialist to keep the members abreast of the various trail updates across this province or perhaps the northern corridor! You do a great job of sharing info that you come across on the various media platforms As do others, but you seem to excel at it.
  23. Tough situation to be in - wanting the business, but with too much snow, making it difficult. Sounds like your trip, and others taking off this week, will be a good one though condition wise
