  1. was easy to detour...that hole was just 50 ft from the road...just ran up the rd, turn right and reconnect with trail...its the trail that if you head towards Owen Sound on railbed and then hit side rd 70, thats where the trail goes towards Durham...
  2. Hard to tell by pics but theres a 1 1/2 ft drop at both ends and the side....just terrible....and over a foot deep...if you look really close in the 2nd pic you can see the ski mark coming from the left where the guy hit the tree...
  3. we rode Saturday and Sunday...Sunday was not very good other than rail bed...tried to run over to Walters Falls but had to turn around...little snow in bush and lots of mud water ...so heade back towards Markdale then turned off towards Durham....MISTAKE!!!! tons on mud holes, water and mogels...fields were ok and old unmaintained rds but bush trails were brutal...saw a guy try to go through a huge and deep water, mud hole and hit a tree....tried to post a pic but would not load...you know its bad when you looked forward to seeing the sign that said follow road to trail..lol.
  4. Monday January 27th , After riding from Denbigh over through McArthur Mills, cross Limerick Lk and back to Birds Creek, my buddy noticed that his travel bag was wide open on his sled and his tool kit with his belt, shock pump, etc and his other small black case was gone...case had his insurance, ownership among other things in it...we think it was lost bewteen Limerick Lk and Birds Creek but who knows...if anyone finds it please let me know through this post and pm me...we went through that area mid afternoon...Cheers
  5. Never said that at all...what I said is there are people that I know that would say many of the samethings that have been said on this post...problem is they are speed demons and drive crazy and that's why I would never ride with them but if they were describing their riding style they think their good safe drivers....there not... I kind of compare it to trespassing or riding off trail...no one ever does it and everyone always follows the rules...well someone isn't, it's always the other guy
  6. +2.....guess sad part is the guys that are driving like maniacs likely would give the same responses that others have given on this post....
  7. so 180 k down a railbed is ok as long as there are no corners and the driver feels comfy?
  8. Ontario Realtime Sledding
  9. Saw this posted on facebook!!! I would like to make everyone aware that on Sunday as my buddy and I were riding back to the truck after a beautiful ride from Thunder bridge Rd in Lindsay all the way up to haliburton, right in the area I have circled...there was a sled going north as I was coming down south with two people dressed in all black snow suits. Coming head on with you to try to make you steer into the ditch....they got so close and as they went by the guy double riding in the back got up and clubbed me with a little bat or pipe or something. I don't know what it was because it happened so fast and they took off. My buddy was half a mile in front of me and they also attacked him as well but just brazed his shoulder. I don't know what kind of savages we have on our trails but I just wanted to make people aware that this is happening. God forbid it's a dad taking his kid for a ride or a woman that weighs half of what I do. But when I got hit it felt like I drove into a concrete pole. I couldn't ride the rest of the way to the truck because I managed to stop the sled and fall to the ground in excruciating pain. Just want to make it aware that this is happening on our trails. I didn't get a description of the snowmobile cause it happened so fast. The driver tries running you off the trail as the double rider clubs you as they ride by......
  10. ..unless someone crashes themselves many riders think they are great riders, safe, experienced, etc...if you take some time and read posts from members on this forum over the years , its filled with guys saying their aggressive drivers, fast paced, quick riders, etc when describing their riding style..this happens usually when a guy is looking to ride with someone or a group and is describing how they ride......isn't that just another way of saying I drive really fast?...of course most, I am guessing will say I only drive that style when its safe to do so but we can all see every time we ride thats not true..every guy that cuts a corner I am sure thinks hes a great rider....thoughts???
  11. think 11 1/2 snowflakes in New Hamburg...lol...
  12. only on a sled would you for 10 months earlier complain about cost of sledding and lack of snow and think about getting out of the sport but then first time you are on your sled immediately think about buying a new one..lol....
  13. The way the last number of years have gone , a week or two would be more than usual...I think in our area (New Hamburg) we have been open maybe 3 days in last few years....
  14. I am pretty sure I know the answer already but wondering what conditions are like in theses areas?..are they still miles from even thinking about having a chance to open?...
  15. Lake Conestoga Snowmobilers December 15 at 12:41 PM ยท To All of our Dedicated Supporters, Lake Conestoga Snowmobilers has been unable to secure land-use permission for any of our trails that are located on Grand River Conservation Authority properties. As such, our club will be respecting the landowner by closing the B109 trail from Sideroad 3 (intersection with Palmerston Snow Kings) to the Diamond Side Road (affecting Millenium, Beaver Pond, Selinger Road and Duck Pond trails) as well as somewhere near Sideroad 15 to Wellington Road 45 (affecting Tornado Alley, Sailing Club Road, Clubhouse, and Park trails) for this season. In addition, local club trails from the Millenium T to Concession Road 5 (affecting the Pumphouse Trail) will also need to be closed. We are deeply saddened that we will not be able to open our clubhouse as it is located on the affected trails. Lake Conestoga Snowmobilers dedicated volunteers and gracious landowners have been hard at work this entire autumn to install our network of trails for your enjoyment. Please refer to the OFSC Interactive trail guide for the latest trail status updates. At this time Lake Conestoga Snowmobilers would like to thank the Grand River Conservation Authority for the successful partnership we have enjoyed over the past 45 years. We look forward to a collaborative effort involving the affected clubs, the OFSC and the Grand River Conservation Authority to discuss and overcome the challenges that were presented this year and move forward with a healthy relationship in the years to come.
