  1. Minimum earned premiums, earned premiums, and un-earned premiums all come into play. Many insurers have a set minimum earned premium on items that tend to be "seasonal" for a reason.
  2. And you would be in the 99% group who rarely look at anything - just the price I have a $1,000.00 deductible. $500.00 is useless and I would never make a claim for anything in or around there - to lose claims free and/or have a claim go against my rating for something so low is ridiculous
  3. Without knowing every detail - you simply can't compare - there is quite a bit that will go into rating and cause variance. If it's not apples to apples - then it's a pointless exercise
  4. The value is only used for rating purposes, it has no bearing on the payout. The payout under the policy is based on Actual Cash Value. Got my renewal from TD in my hand - no change up or down. Paid
  5. Only hard copy for me. i don’t keep anything other than normal photos on my phone.
  6. They don't - simply put. An officer would have to call in - identify himself as such - and the only information that can be shared is "yes - it's valid" or "no - it's not valid "
  7. The officer was not being truthful to you then. There is no electronic or data connection between individual licensed insurers in Ontario and the police. The officer would need to contact the insurance company directly to verify if the policy information provided is valid ,and the only information that could be shared with them from the roadside is "yes -the policy number you provided is valid" - or "no, the policy is not valid - it was cancelled on XXXX". That's it.
  8. The police are not able to verify the insurance policy you provide them is valid from their car - fyi. They, like everyone else, would need to call it in to the company to be sure.
  9. I have a commercial license and they still mail out the reminder for it.
  10. Last time I did it, I used the Insurance Search Bureau
  11. Not sure - never sold a car before or bought a used one either. Last sled I sold was in 2013 - which was to a buddy - anything before that was always traded in. The one I bought I ran my own lien search on it. Was curious on all this - so this is good discussion
  12. Was curious about others habits - maybe now because we're selling one - but if/when any of you guys are out shopping for used sleds - if you're serious on one - do you guys have lien searches run on them? I bought my Cat used off a kid - it was used one weekend. When we were firm on a deal - I ran a lien search and low and behold - there was one on it through whomever provided the financing for Cat at the time. I had the kid pay it out and provide me a copy of the discharge before I finalised the deal. Am I crazy - or is that the norm? With sled prices now what they are - would it not be risky to not do this? Just curious
  13. I was speeding - way over - officer was polite and did me a solid- no need to waste the time and resources - I was guilty and okay to accept what he wrote it up to. From what I see day to day - most do not get "off" they get plead down to a lesser
  14. If it were advertised, I missed it. I heard about doing away with stickers, but that was about it. nothing came in the mail, and that’s all I will open and look at. i know it’s ignorant, but i don’t pay much attention to a lot lol
  15. Tag on wife's vehicle says 2021. We have never "logged" into anything related to the MTO, so probably expired. I got stopped in March for speeding - nothing was said? - usual - license/insurance - got my ticket and paid it. Lucky by the sounds of it
  16. You'll never get them back. Do what you need to do to keep them going and control what you can control. The weather is the only thing you can't control. Hopefully with all the carbon taxes collected- the weather will get more wintery again.
  17. Haven't touched the car since they did away with it. Sled is due in Feb.
  18. I will have to agree with your date/timeline for somewhere in the Province. If we're talking south of #60 - I'm going with January
  19. We buy 5 permits every year - you've seen the mileage on my sons. My 2012 has 4700 miles on it As a family we are happy to contribute - hoping it will be there one day when I can return.
  20. General tune up, new belt and exhaust temp sensor replacement, it failed last ride of the season, have had no time to get to it yet. think at Christmas, studding the kids new sled, if they don’t book hockey between now and then.
  21. That is some beautiful landscape
  22. 😁we are aiming for something in between.
  23. Sort of - yes - growth spurt - he's too big for it.
  24. If you read your policy - you absolutely should be making sure you are paying your premium correctly and on an appropriate value of the sled. The value is to calculate the premium - but it is not a REPLACEMENT cost value. The TD sled policy is NOT a replacement cost policy, they are not Agreed Value or Stated Amount, they are ACV
