Well, y'all may not be going south, but we may not be going N either. I may be looking at 24 hours west more than once. That drive is good for once / year...

What does Bat Flu have to doo with land owner issues? Play me connect the dots...
-
If so (and you are likely quite right) maybe you should hang a sign on the groomer or at the entrance to the trail that trail maint costs are incurred by trail pass revenue. .

I'm not following this? Where does synthetic come into the subject per the fitting? Shirley the zerk will take dino grease - no? I've never used one of those fancy covers to actually grease anything. I think they just lay it beside the outside bearing? A good design would have a grease zerk sticking right out he end of the axle, with a cross hole between the two bearings, but I don't know if anyone makes that style or not? I really don't mess with trailer bearings all too often. However - I doo make many shafts for commercial tensioners that ARE greased in the way that I said.

"Steal your helmet" LOL! Not like on mine! I have been gobbling up a certain old Lazer helmet anytime I find one in my size on ebay. Mine was worn and I forgot it hanging on the headache rack of my truck in the dark one night in Wyoming. Tried on a few new ones that next fall, and couldn't seem to pull them down far enough? Ended up I hated the one that I bought, and - that's when I started searching for clean/used units like my old one. I have a stash now, but not likely anyone is too concerned about a 25 yr old helmet. Not like I park anywhere that has people usually anyhow ....

.... when it worked ....

Well, that truck actually has a lever, it's the hub lock-outs that would have been "old skewl" in this case...

I love my flatbed truck! Only issue I ever had was one time when I was passing a string of trailers headin' north and just as I got beside the rubber duck, mine came loose. All ended well, but there was quite a few rough seconds in there for us all... Parked in the bush and all.... Turned out that my 4wd actuator wasn't working, and I was in 2wd. Didn't even figger that out 'till the next summer.

Lots of truth there, but mine are electric / drums

You only have brakes on one axle? We put all new brake kits on all three axles on my 21K# gooseneck, and I really don't recall it coming anywhere near your costs!

Shirley you have someone in town that would check on it fer yuh?
-
Well, I'm not 100% sure that it was Decker's (but I think that it was) but I know that I seen an interview with one of those fellas in one of the snowmachine mags this year. My guess would likely be Snowtech, but it could have been one of the others. (I git several mags) Anyhow - I think the guy had retired (well into his 70's?) and his wife had died a few years prior?

I would venture to guess that at least 50% of the sleds heading up D trail are still Yanks. Most of the rest from The Soo. Only a few from eastern Province. Especially if you are talking about staying somewhere. Halfway Haven and Motels in Wawa will Shirley be at least 1/2 Yanks - but yes - way down from the early 2000's or even late 90's The Great Recession was the key player in loss here, not 9/11, and we didn't have to have actual passports until prolly around 2008 as well? (yes - fallout from 911, but years later) So The Crash combined with the passport thing together is what really made the change, but also - most guys will buy that $200 trail pass for a few years, but then decide to stay Stateside after that. And by 2008 most guys had given it a try, so ...

I would ass_u_me so too. Thus why they can't be moved.

Actually, by the sounds of it, NY is about all but done with this thing. They had the big burn through right away, and I saw it reported last night that they just had their first day of no related deaths at all, so ... But the numbers are so biased ... My daughter works on the Bat Flu floor frequently in Columbus, and she said that she had a guy that got buggered up in an auto accident (I think?) and was ready to leave and go to rehab, but he tested + for Wuhan, and even tho he shows no symptoms, the rehab facility won't take him until he tests - for 2 days in a row. She said that scenario isn't "normal", but it's not uncommon either. Making the "number of cases" escalate higher than what would be considered "real"

I think you need to slow down on your reading.

Any coon hunter supply outfit should be able to hook you up with such very easilly. When younger I just used a 6V (12V?) brick type battery hung on my belt for night time pest hunting, but I'm sure that 40 years has made marked improvements on that. Be aware tho - that when a pigeon comes down hurt, it is going to try to go towards the only light in the joint, so that can add some excitement sometimes too....

Was actually ref the original post - as I understood it that the reason that he was wearing the vest to begin with was for the benefit of those behind him. Point of the thread was that it had frontal benefits that Trumped the intended use.

As far as being seen by the riders behind you doo to snowdust (presumably the issue?) we on occassion use Lead Dog lights when breaking trail after dark, or even if just still out playing off-trail after dark. They are great for being able to see the terrain - even when your headlight is covered in snow, but per this conversation - it has been found to be of just as much help for the second guy to be able to keep tabs on the point man as there is no way that you are going to see a tail light in that environment. The back of the light glows red anyhow, but it does have a brake light that you can hook up if you want too. Not thinking that y'all are gunna run out and buy a Lead Dog light - as it would look goofy, and be just one more chord tethered to the machine, but it seems that I have seen at least one helmet that may have had such rear light built into it? I don't know if it was still tethered, or wireless? (or even existed beyond my dreams for sure?) I see that they are now offering an LED version, and you could just run a batt pack for it like coon hunting, and not have to deal with the tether. https://helmetlight.com/

Ah. Same as the end of the Whitman Dam Rd @ Domtar then, except that is a BIG corner that you're not going to miss.
-
So - you parked at the apex of a corner just to prove a point?

1998 I ran that alone at dusk, and I kept slowing down, and slowing down, and slowing down as I just couldn't focus my eyes. It all just seemed like a blur... THEN I understood! I was coming up on a "sand bar" where the ice had made an 8-10' tall ramp up. I went on up and then had to navigate the mine field above through the broken ice and the stumps. Came down the other side, and on to Wawa and loaded up. Had someone been rolling a good clip up through there - i'd'a been a Toughy.
-
Well don't take a run down the Magpie armed with that "knowledge"...

How is that physically possible? Maybe near shore as one end supported by the shoreline, and the other "end" floating .... Other than that?
