That sled had a gas shut-off valve on it, and if it was closed and the sled ran enough to run the carbs dry -then mayby the carbs are ok, but a dirty carb - especially on a multi-carb motor like yours, is very vulnerable to a lean burndown. I personally just never trust last years carbs, and we always tear them down to clean them. This is a WAY bigger deal then chaincase oil. Making sure there is enough oil in the case is good, but changing it not nearly that big'a deal. Also - round slides are notorious for gunking up. Way more-so than flat slides. .

Does this water never freeze? Nor any major section above it? If so, how does a unit like this handle break-up?
-
You are asking or telling?
-
And you are just dragging it out that much longer is all.

Boy oh boy - look at those stats to help justify the %$#! mask wearing eh? I haven't worn one at all.
-
Nope, got that one figgered out, that is some other BS rhyme. LOL!

Well, sometimes I know that it was just a clearance issue. IDK if there is another reason to doo this or not. Possibly getting the body down into the cooling of the snow a bit better maybe?
-
I've seen the OEM's doo this already. Seems odd, but what doo I know. I've never been a fancy shock guy. If the trail is rough enough to justify fancy shocks, I will find some 'nother place to ride or slow down, not git a snowcross machine.

You know - I used'ta be able to rattle that whole thing off, but now I forget how it starts out... I seem to store more and more in a zip file, and while it's still there - somewhere, some of the links seem to be broken sometimes. Can you git me started? Maybe "listen listen"? Boy, my remembery jist aint what it once was when I didn't have so much to remember....

I directed a chum that likes to C/C ski there last year. I guess they won't be planning on making the trip this year ....

Well Shirley the porpoise of "air-chocks mahn" is to address a variable load application. Is there one 150# person on board, or two 300# people? And the second one clear to the back will count double than the front person as well. So - that is a 6 to 1 variable in load.

Well, romping through the bush - not so concerned. But running down the road is a horse of a differ'nt colour. I took the "shortcut" trail up to Halfway last spring - and I'm sure that I have deeper keels than most of you - but I was clipping stones a lot. And there was a lot more snow on those roads than there is in this pic. I don't think that my boy's dual runner Doo skis (Simmons knock-offs) ever hit anything tho.

Looks like an '80's Doo clutch. You sure that it is STILL hot enough to heat supper from after all these years? We used too have Hotdoggers on our sleds, but the novelty of that wore off a long time ago. I'm good with a bag of chips, jerky, Debbies, or whatever else to git through the day at this point. I s'pose for someone that is able to ride from home most of the time - it's not that big'a deal, but when my sled hits the snow - I Shirley don't want to sit around half the day dick'n with a dad blamed fire or whatnot. I have already carried Sterno stove on my 4wheeler and used that in the bush too. Not sure I will doo that aggin or not?

That's gotta be hard on your ski runners!

Aubrey Falls / Black Creek Outfitters - 2020-2021 - Season
Ox replied to Dan-Senior's topic in Main Clubhouse
Is Black Creek open this year? I don't see any signs of life from Halfway yet. -
OH YEAH! Lots of stuff have shown up @ 3 weeks for the last several months. (does NOT include any customs! Don't send cookies my way! The microbes will have already taken care of them before they git here! .. and I have no idea why our mail is going through Detroit in the first place...
-
Well, it didn't go through Detroit then!
-
I am actually surprised at the % of the recoils that folks are buying for the old Zx chassis sleds of '99/'03. These are still out there in force!
-
I can't bring myself to buy a tag with a closed border. My $400 can towards fuel to go west in stead.

1998 I ran that alone at dusk, and I kept slowing down, and slowing down, and slowing down as I just couldn't focus my eyes. It all just seemed like a blur... THEN I understood! I was coming up on a "sand bar" where the ice had made an 8-10' tall ramp up. I went on up and then had to navigate the mine field above through the broken ice and the stumps. Came down the other side, and on to Wawa and loaded up. Had someone been rolling a good clip up through there - i'd'a been a Toughy.
-
Well don't take a run down the Magpie armed with that "knowledge"...
-
How is that physically possible? Maybe near shore as one end supported by the shoreline, and the other "end" floating .... Other than that?
-
Omemee maybe?
