Put on 100 miles today in this area. Trails were wind blown with drifting. Lots of fluff, plowing through the corners and spin for miles, no base. Hopefully the rain forecast for next week settles the snow and freezes it solid. I don’t remember trails ever opening with this good of conditions. A bit of dirt/grass showing near the Conestogo clubhouse from traffic.
Speaking of traffic, where was everybody? We were expecting large groups at every turn. Didn’t even feel like a regular Saturday. Stopped for fuel in Atwood, no sleds in sight.
I showed this pic to a friend this afternoon and said how much HP in there?
Awesome start to the season!
Have you ever met my wife yet? Or seen her looking out cottage windows in winter?
I am trying to be a nice husband and involve her the odd winter weekend.
When I considered buying a Harley she commented that she doesn’t see me from January to April and if you buy a bike when will she see me at all?
I thought that was the point of buying motorsports toys!
Over 1500 km of trail open today, and I am sure more to come shortly. This is exactly what we need to help spur interest and get folks invested. Especially seeing much of what is open currently is in the south where we have large numbers of sledders that often cannot ride close to home, more so this early. What looked like doom and gloom one month ago, has certainly turned a corner with trails open and government showing interest in keeping the trails alive. I think we all need to look at this as a gift and not stop being vigilant about resolving the underlying funding issue. While we have dialogue with the government, it is imperative that a price increase be front and center so when requested again it gets approval and our government understand that the OFSC needs more lattitude when setting policy within the framework we have, or perhqps even alter the legislation so as to give autonomy in price stting to the OFSC moving forward.
Currently looking out the window at more snow falling, what a wonderful day.
