Viperules700
Make your days fairly short or you will freeze to death. Can be minus 40 overnight and during the early morning and be a high of minius 20. Can be extremely cold to ride any distance this time of year. Viperules700
Next week and half temps look ok, but the cold might be on the way For cochrane. They are getting our winter temps for now.
Canuck
Lots of suggestions for day trips over the past couple of months on the forum. I wonder if a 'Cochrane' search query would provide a few answers. Sledjunk and I ran the trail to Quebec and back last year. It's the typical closed railway line. Lots of straightaways. Polaris1
While its not a real long ride, make sure you hit the L103 sometime.About one third of it is road riding but the other part absolutely rocked last time we were on it,plus theres a nice section of rapids at a bridge thats a must see.Its a nice ride if you end up back in Cochrane in the mid afternoon and dont want to quit yet, happened to us after running the canyon loop. yamataz
Try to get up to the Fire Tower Lookout on L105 if you can! It's awesome!

Turbo Doo
How does the NAI and the Lillabelle compare...?
Viperules700
Canyon loop go to smooth rock first fuel up and then off to fraserdale (only take cash for gas and food be ready to pay 2.50 per litter. If you do the loop the other way you will need more fuel from fraserdale. Liabelle is great place to stay. Kim and rod are great. Great food and can give you directions to some cool places. Great place to stay the day before you do the canyon loop. North adventure Is my second choice. They have indoor heated sled storage, which is nice. sledjunk
How does the NAI and the Lillabelle compare...? NAI is a motel setup with a bar and restaurant. They have some odd cancellation policies so check before you book! Lillabelle is a great lodge with friendly hosts. The rate includes breakfast and dinner and the rooms are roomy and comfortable.
