Legal help

Anyone doing pro bono work or know of someone on the west side of the GTA that could help our club with the a custom LUA with one of the local cons. authorities?

OFSC tells us the insurer won't "take on the liability" of reviewing the document and we need a legal person to do it.

Might there be other clubs that deal with the same  Conservation Authority who would also have the same needs. It would make CENTS to do one for all clubs that need it. For instance if it happened to be the Grand River Conservation Authority there would be 4 or more clubs with the same issue.

It's not the GRCA. We are the only club who operates on CVC property.

Our club has been at the forefront of work on the GRCA , in fact. But no progress there. Have you made progress on GRCA?

Maybe contact your district people? We run on one city owned rail trail, one county owned rail trail, one multiple county conservation area authority, multiple trails. All multi use.

The local snowmobile clubs do the lions share of maintaining the trails for all users. The ATV club does very little. Some trails we use jointly, the atv's destroy the trail base and make massive ruts. None get repaired and we have problems even setting up a suitable base. Without major snow and multiple passes with the groomer these trails are back wrenching, suspension pounding, 10 kmh,  avoid at all cost sections.

Without us, the trails would be overgrown and in poor condition, or the government entities would be out of pocket to maintain, without the benefit of tourist dollars.

They would be unusable for anyone in the winter, without our groomer maintaining them. Most people understand that, although there are a few users that don't get the link. No snowmobiles equals no groomer, means no walking or skiing. I believe some people I encounter while grooming think this machine is service provided by government.

If so (and you are likely quite right) maybe you should hang a sign on the groomer or at the entrance to the trail that trail maint costs are incurred by trail pass revenue.

Sorry for delayed response. My club doesn't have to deal with the GRCA but Elmira and Conestoga Lake do. I'm not sure whether Bridgeport does or not but Volunteer2 would be the guy for them.

Ox, please remember that would require people to read the sign (and comprehend it).
