I'm trying to figure out a couple of Polaris sleds that my father had. Are there any decent sites that have Polaris info? When I try to search what he had, I get wildly bad results. Wrong colours/models/chassis or model year.

BRP @ least archives their online model info back to '97.

You can go on to the Polaris website and click the snowmobile, then click parts and service and it goes back to 1985 for parts.  It does not give you colours but it gives you every model for parts.  Other than that ill try and look around today as well!

97? My newest sled is a 96. I guess they're getting old. How are conditions looking in Apsley? Ill be there this weekend. Hoping Stoney opens a couple trails. Willing to run Hydro lines and lake roads if theres enough snow.

Not really sure. I'm just going by memory. I found out his 2nd last sled was a '99 Trail like this one:

His 1st Poo was a '93 or '94 fan-cooled model that was black.

Still sketchy, I was out walking on a trail & under the evergreens, there wasn't a lot of base. It has snowed off & on the last 2 days & we've gotten a couple of inches of powder snow. 8 inches on the snow stick.

2up you wouldn't work for the CBSA would you? Back around 2000 I was crossing @ Ft. Erie & all the agent wanted to talk about was sledding. He asked about my plate (little sled on it) & my address. He was quite familiar w/ the area  as he had ridden from a friend's cottage on Chandos.

Wasn't me. I repair cars in a small local shop. My inlaws used to live up near chandos tho. They are in town now. Grandpa used to own the gas station beside hunters.

And run the bottle return

Huh?

http://www.polarisfiles.com/forum/index.php?&act=products&mode=snowmobile&year=1999&id=154

Polaris files has never been a 100% accurate list.  But it is still there.

I'd also try this site with your VIN #

http://www.polaris.com/en-us/snowmobiles/vin-search

Or look at their parts manuals

http://www.polaris.com/en-us/snowmobiles/shop/parts

Or even consider calling your insurance company for a "quote" on the sled and have your VIN # handy.  Their system will tell you the model.

Looks like his other sled was a '94 Sport (he sold his "water wing" Safari in Dec' of '93. Was there not a bigger fan in those sleds than a 440? I was thinking it might've been a 488 fan. His last sled was a '03 Classic

At Ashgrove Inn Jan' '09, his last season of riding.

those classics were likely either a 488 (500) Liquid or 600 liquid twin. That chassis (edge) started 2001

Polaris now uses a 550 fan
