SNOHAWK
What's the best and most effective way to break in a complete rebuilt Ski doo 800 motor? I have freshened one of my 800's (top end) and did a complete rebuild on the other. Looking for your advice. Thanks Sno

Redfire427
Have a dealer re-set the PCM with the BUDS system. This will put the computer back to break-in mode, which will retard the timing a bit, just like a new sled. Carmen
Cat800ltd
Drive it like you stole it. No long sustained pulls, keep varying the rpm. But if you want a screamer, do not baby it. Of course pre mix the first tank as well.

The reset will also jack up the oil injection rate for the break-in period. --------------------- Operation During Break-In A break-in period of 10 operating hours or 500 km (300 mi) is required for the vehicle. After the break-in period, the vehicle should be inspected by an authorized Ski-Doo dealer. Refer to MAINTE- NANCE section. Engine During the break-in period: – Avoid prolonged full throttle opera- tion. – Avoidsustainedaccelerations. – Avoidprolongedcruisingspeeds. – Avoidengineoverheating. However, brief accelerations and speed variations contribute to a good break-in. During the first few hours of break-in, the engine management system con- trols some engine parameters which will slightly reduce the engine perfor- mance. E-TEC Models During a predetermined period, the engine management system controls some engine parameters. The duration is based on fuel volume. It will take approximately two fuel tanks to complete the break-in. During this period: – Theengineperformanceandbehav- ior will not be optimal. – Thefuelandoilconsumptionwillbe higher.
