  1. Which would be more efficient fuel wise and easier to pull? A 7' wide TC 167 or an 11' wide 2KF on a 2 place Triton Elite. Is there much difference between the two? I'm kinda interested in making the jump from my clamshell setup to the TC 167, but am curious on what the extra weight will mean for the towing fuel bill's.
  2. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/thunder-bay/marathon-manitouwadge-snowmobile-trail-1.5392994?fbclid=IwAR08oINt9Smwem0QP7omWs2ajzCKK3v7kTwHvq4unSBjZcab1Wpce7EbamM
  3. I do applaude anyone locally that is looking at this. It would be a great thing. I would definately go visit and ride the loop
  4. Why bother with Hornepayne? Just get a link from Marathon through Manitouwadge to Longlac and maybe a local loop in the Manitouwadge area for locals. That should be enough. If one lesson from the past should be learned it's not to overdo it. What gets put in place needs to be sustainable. Curious to see if there is any local support. Will the help and the sale of 50 trail permits occur in Manitouwadge. The town has to actually want this to ever make it a success.

  6. You can buy them either way. 2 models available. One for sleds with passenger hand guards and one for sleds without.
  7. Yep those are knock offs of the ski doo design. The doo muffs are well thought out and work well. Use them all the time in all conditions. Never have cold hands anymore.
  8. Yeah not sure. The one sled claim I have no complaints with. The second I certainly did. Being refused insurance was just a kick in the nuts. No notice from them when they paid the claims out. It was a complete surprise months after the claims were settled. Here I am with a new toy and had to scramble to get coverage in place. I'll continue to share my terrible experience with all that ask / listen.
  9. Yeah. Had 2 sleds stolen. One claim went smooth. The second was a fight. 4 months later I bought a replacement sled and called for insurance coverage only to be told they wouldn't insure me. They would not give me a reason why. Just flat out refused to cover me again. From my viewpoint I was punished by TD for being the victim that got robbed. Everything I did was above board and fair (civil and professional as well) in trying to resolve the claim and I didn't get what I should have for the one sled. I will continue to ensure everyone that speaks of TD hears how they treat their customers. Terrible company.
  10. Just don't have a claim. You will be disappointed afterwards if dealing with TD.
  11. It again depends on the weather, but when I ran that stretch near Powassan it was snow covered road running and was nothing detrimental. It does run for a while, but I think its blown out of proportion. The majority of the time that road is snow covered. One of those sections that 80% of the time is fine. The other 20% its brutal. There is a few other big road running sections south of Kearney north of Dwight as well. Same scenario. RAP is not dead. It's still the great tour it has always been. I would recommend it. Especially in mid February.
  12. The existing trail isn't in question. This is a new route that would go downtown. It would be a great addition to what already exists.
  13. Wow this is pretty resounding. Guess I'll try a set. I had heard that they were a good choice handling wise. My main concern was how well they wore. If you've got 7000 kms from them then that's as good as any other carbide I could buy.
  14. Anyone run these? How do you find them for handling and do they last? Running the aggressive or semi aggressive versions?
  15. So 14 L per 100 km roughly. Not bad for an 800.
  16. The ACE 4 strokes get very good mileage at trail speeds (40 - 80 km/hr). If you start running them wide open or in heavy snow the mileage numbers fall off considerably to the point that higher horsepower sleds get better mileage. I do think a 600 e-Tec will beat the 900 ace in mileage in most conditions. It won’t beat the 600 ACE. The mileage readout on my 900 ACE reads 11 litres per 100 km in my last big trail ride. That was with good trail conditions (groomed and -15 out) riding at trail speeds 40 - 80 km/hr.
  17. Next week. Over 50% is open now. It's a lack of ice in some areas that is the real issue. Lots of snow up there.
  18. Does Lake Barnard take long into the season to freeze? Wondering if Northrodge will be accessible in two weeks time. Also how pricey is their dining room? Looks like it'll fit the bill, but the rooms are $200 a night. I can stomach that, but not another $150 for dinner.
  19. Anyone tried Northridge Inn at South River? Or Morning Mist Resort in Stonecliff? Thinking I'd start in Bancroft or Whitney. So these two kinda lined up. Could push on to Petawawa. Planning to run it clockwise with the second day being the longest. Can you get from South River to Stonecliff on a tank of fuel? Or is a trip into Mattawa a must?
  20. Thinking of running this with the wife. Where can we stay that is nice? Looking at three 200 mile days. So three resorts spaced out evenly around the loop where there is good food and nice rooms. Not over the top, but nice.
