  1. This is our go to spot for lunch when we make the Cochrane to Hearst run. It was our first time experiencing the new owners,  and it did not dissapoint.  Fabulous food, service and the new owners are great people. Highly recommended this little gem up here.  Just off the L123, in Moonbeam up from the post office. They do have signs up trailside...

So I started my sled off from the start with with the ultimax belt vs the Doo belt, at first it rev’d to around 7900rpm but it never went much over 100mph…..but got there fast.
Started to notice max rpm was now only 7600rpm and around 100mph was where it would get to and not go much further….hit a wall so to speak.
Finally decided to put the Doo belt on but hadn’t got a chance to do any lake runs to see what the difference was, finally did today and sled rev’d to 7900 again but Speedo was now climbing past 100, I let off at 110 and returned to truck.
I knew running the ultimax belt could use some clutch work to maximize its use, but didn’t think it would make that much of a difference.

Doo belts for us only....Best luck I've had is with Stock belts..

  3. Just wanted to give a shootout to Veilleux Camping and Marina.  We have been there before for dinner and lunch, but just wanted to say the food and service was excellent today. They have renovated the inside of the restaurant.  Great place, great food, great people.   Highly recommend it if your in Hearst..

  4. It's definitely a blow to Riders, and the clubs and volunteers.  It just amazes me that one would get involved in that business,  and have no way of keeping that road open, plan or no plan.  Unfortunate situation.

Any information on the duration of this closure yet?

I was planning my trip next week (leaving tomorrow) and this will force a change.
My buddy no longer accepts more than 200 miles per day and this will put us over…..

    Thanks for any updates.

    Scott

I'm pretty sure Arctic Riders Groomer is stuck in some overflow slush from  a beaver swamped out section of trail from pictures on Facebook..

if you watch their media stuff, they have been banking on getting (begging) grants, and help from the canadian, ontario govt but, the owners are not canadian. highly doubting your govt is going to give money to non residents, to send to earnings back to the states.  (nor should they, in my thinking)

personally, I have been there, and done that with halfway, and understand the majority cant tour through there without a fuel stop in there. but, the way the place, is built, ran, managed terribly. and has opened, and closed more times than I care to remember, leaving customers, and the grooming clubs that service them in the lurch... I would not send another dime to that place without a guarantee to the clubs, their fuel bills were paid for the whole season, regardless, if the business stays open for the whole season.

the ofsc, clubs, district and the sledders have banked, planned, and paid good money to keep that trail viable, for them. it is time to move on. the best thing that could happen is, you get the govt to put a transformer station near the site, get them off generated power, and onto the power grid, then get a family, or group, to completely rebuild the facilities, planning on living there, and when people show up they do, when they dont, they dont. just like Steve and Gale did.

if you cant do that, dont even try, Ski

Well said Ski. Enough Excuses. Doo it right,  or shut it down for good.

  7. Not being a ass here, but how can you operate that place, in that area, and not have a way to keep that road open?. Sorry guys,  that's just bad planning and business imo....The trails can, will and are maintained good by the clubs.
