  1. Always enjoy my trips up north, even the drive when the weather is good. I wouldn't say I'd quit if all my riding was in D2, but variety is nice. Here's to a normal season for '21/'22 & we can 'organize' an OC gathering mid-season up north.
  2. It's possible, but there seems to be a lot of traffic in & out to the commercial shop next door. It used to be our go to Kap lodging back in the day. I don't recall many if any sled trailers there. Mind you we're talking about a late season alternative. @Turbo Doo posted about the Apollo & not favourable earlier. In my recent trips up there I haven't noticed many sleds there (for what ever reason) One of my throwback pics was taken there. Your screen grab missed part of the parking area @ the nearby Advantage. Red marks a plowed area of the lot that was unoccupied. I imagine parking there wouldn't be an issue. This year & in years past we've parked along the south side across from our rooms. In 2018 we had quite a few sleds for an end of season OC ride. Several trucks & trailers parked along there w/ nothing said. I'm thinking 'Steve' was just happy he had rented a bunch of rooms. That being said Steve seems to struggle w/ English. The check in was a bit unorganized (I paid for the 'extra' room even though @irREVerent was the 'organizer). I was worried about the handoff of my decal to @Techdenis007, but his wife was there & she fully understood what I was asking.
  3. That can't be from your trip the sun isn't shining LOL
  4. Now look back at your BP last week...
  5. After seeing the pics up there after the crappy weather you guys were making us jealous.
  6. Something to ask next season when booking rooms (especially @ staging locations), do you charge for parking when we aren't there? Hopefully the trend does start that if one gets away w/ it, other businesses will follow suit.
  7. No that would've been my father or my my brother (still is). A thought that just came to mind, I wonder if in the case of the Microtel, assuming that this has been the policy all season (since they'd likely see more staging sledders in KL) that they're hurting for business? Trying to find 'new revenue streams' as the corporate types are so fond of saying...
  8. I saw them on the stainless steel. I thought maybe you had taped them up to the fridge once you got home
  9. What are touring sledders supposed to do? Sounds like some people are getting a bit uppity. Heaven forbid we have snowmobiles parked in front of the establishment.
  10. From your pics & posts looks like you enjoyed yourself! Hope to see you riding next season. I see the L138 is still marked red tonight, (other than the obvious LOL) did anyone ever hear what the issue was? Is it red because the signage is non-existent or is the signage gone because the trail is closed?
  11. I was never really impressed w/ the sled after coming off the MXZx 440 (which I should've kept until the ZX came out). My memory fails me on the revisions, but there really much of any changes to the front suspension or steering from the F chassis. I don't think the 'rack' setup came until the ZX (or MXZx S chassis). I'm sure someone will chime in. The yellow Submarine in the other pics I think was a 1st year version. Blew out the base gasket on the north end of Dog Lake, repaired it in Ernie's garage (gasket from the 'doo dealer in D'ville) & contined on to Chapleau. made it as far as south of Matheson & started leaking coolant...
  12. When we you guys presented w/ the letters? Was it when you woke up the last day (after your return from Hearst)? It's 1 thing to have the rule in place before you get there, but to enact it after you arrive is pretty brutal. We all know the drill @ the Bon Air & you can pay it or patronize another business. I'm pretty sure when @irREVerent & I rode over to check the trail I noticed that section was empty.
  13. There was quite a bit of moose activity on the east side of the L129 the other week. Had seen their tracks back in '18 when the gang rode it. Any idea why they is a Hanta Loop sign on the L123 east of the Kap' River?
  14. Holy crap the klicks (& the trails)!
  15. You beat me to it. We've never stayed there so I can't say 1st hand.
  16. From the trail it looks like a truck & trailer combo parking might be limited.
  17. Actually when I was shopping for a travel trailer a friend who has been RVing since he was a kid suggested that I go w/ a tandem axle. A flat isn't a disaster if you have a flat, you can get off the highway for repairs (BTDT). Exploded what appeared to be a perfectly good tire (before trip began) on 17 just west of Nairn Centre. Was able to limp it into the truck stop lot & change the tire.
  18. True, usually away from the rest of the facility.
  19. The other thing the business has to look @ is this is an end of season deal. Not too many people stage in Kap or Hearst mid-season. We've always left our keys w/ the front desk & never had any problems. In addition to allowing them to move for plowing, it's one less thing to lose while on your trip.
  20. Its across the highway & tracks from the Flying J I'm guessing they sledders had a night booked upon their return from Hearst so it's not like they were just parked there. Also by the date it looks like this is a new policy... Also what is security like there over the weekend? I wouldn't be interested in having to park offsite either. One trip we had a change so couldn't start @ Lillabelle, but they let us park our rig there for the week (our last night was still there). Reminds me of parking issues @ a North Bay motel that was well known.
  21. Oh it was the Kap Super 8, I was thinking it was the 1 in Hearst that you had issues w/. How many nights were you staying in Kap & how many in Hearst? When @irREVerent & I left Kap' for the trip to Hearst, we kept 1 room & put all of our non-riding gear, etc in that room. No issue about us leaving 2 trucks & 1 trailer in the lot. Lots of room east of the building for rigs if necessary. As it was we just left them where we had parked. Maybe if they want to cater to the sledding crowd they could expand their parking lot? I guess staging there & heading out for a few days to Longlac or Hornepayne is out of the question? The Bon Air in Timmins while charging you for parking @ least doesn't mind you leaving vehicles behind.
  22. @irREVerent Noticed another sled on our trip from them as well.
  23. Just checked, the Soo to Frater (on the ACR) is 300 klicks round trip. Wawa to Frater is 192 round trip. (that's assuming that's where they go in from)
