Since the OFSC site was not updated on Thursday, as they lead us to believe, I decided not to head to the Paudash trails on the weekend and go for a local ride instead. looking at the tracks for my map I notice the B109 was not very accurate, so I thought I would head in that direction.

I left the driveway, on the sled, in a blizzard Friday morning and jumped on to the B103 and headed to the club house to see what to expect for traffic on the trails. The club house had about 8 vehicles parked in the lot so traffic should be low.

The trails had a fresh 4" of snow on them and I had the chance to find out what the new ski wheels are like in fresh snow. They did not seem to kick up the snow over the windshield when driving straight and even with the skis turned plowing through a corner snow was not a problem.

At the B and B109 junction it was still snowing and blowing.

Across the B to the C junction was not bad, not groomed in the last few hours but good. I could see all the tracks were coming from the south heading north so I decided to head in the opposite direction. The C south to the point it ends at the B103 was good a little bit of drifting but minor. By the time I got to the base of the C the sun was shining and much easier to see.

I did notice the Trail Closed sign had been taken down. It was placed there to stop people from continuing on down the rail line to hwy 90. The B103 has been mover farther to the west. just follow the signs and you can run groomed trails rather than bouncing down an ungroomed path. Maybe the Trail Closed sign needs a second sign to provide more information like, "Old Trail Closed Follow New Route with an arrow???

At the B103 and 411 intersection I notice someone needed a map and borrowed the one of the sign.

On the 411 I past my first sledder of the day and right after that found a coon who fell victim to the coyotes. Sorry no pictures I just move him off the trail and carried on. Followed the new route the 411 takes to the intersection with the MOST502 of the Barrie Club and District 4's trail 425. The MOST502 leading into the Minesing swamp still has a trail closed sign on it.

Crossing hwy 90 took a few minutes with all the traffic at 10:30 in the morning. It was nice to see that D4 had there trails freshly groomed. I took the 425 to the 525 then back west on the 424 to the 410 intersection. The snow was already drifting onto the trails so it was fun bust the small drifts. Usually under 18 inches.

Trails were smooth but noticeably thinner. Once on the 424 the trail was nicely groomed for the snow they have. AT the B109 it was time to head back north. There was more road running than I cared for but at least there was a trail.

The farther north the better the snow depth. Stooped at the ESSO at the B109 and 426 intersection which is Intersection 406. Shortly after this point snow was even better and the once on the Barrie SC trails the drifts were getting deeper. Crossing into the Wasaga SC trails the sky was getting darker again the the snow was starting back up. The drifting was now measured in feet. Still fun just at slower speeds. At the B the traffic levels had increased by the look of the trail. It really is best to avoid the TOP trails when possible. The is some logging in the Last Simcoe Forest before entering the Sno Voyagers area. The road was scraped to snirt. This something to keep in mind as the season goes on. I took the B,BC, B, and B103 back home. These trails were a little rougher with the new snow on them but easily rideable.

240km great day to be out.
