New Liskeard to Cochrane conditions

Recommended Posts

We returned Sat. evening from 7 days / 2400 km. of riding in the above area. Went Timmins / Hearst / Longlac / Hillsport / Hornepayne / Hearst / Timmins / Cochrane & back to Liskeard. Everything was great except coming back in from Earlton last Friday. There was an ice base with only minimal snow covering in that area. Many stakes & some signs down due to the mild weather earlier in the week. I assume they would be replaced when volunteers had time on the weekend. Everything north & west of Earlton was great with the exception of a few washouts at creeks.

If going Hearst to Longlac you can get gas by riding 5km. north off the trail into the reservation west of Hearst before you get to Mooseland. There is no gas at Eagles Earth. The next gas is at Klotz Lake Camp east of Longlac. The trail was great all the way to Longlac last Monday with only one washout at a creek.

2 great places we stayed were The Wilderness Resort in Hillsport and Lillabelle Lake Resort in Cochrane.

They both had excellent food and lodging at a very reasonable price with awesome hospitality. We will return to both spots in the future!

We spoke to some people last Friday that had ridden north out of Temagami and both parties said if they had it to do over, they would have started farther north due to limited snow.

Thanks to all the volunteers in the north who give their time & effort to provide great riding for us southerners!
