TRAIL REPORT - Kearney-Sprucedale-Magnatewan

Giddy UP

:-) Just gotta love mid week riding! Started out from Kearney this morning and the Top D from Kearney to Sprucedale was in tabletop conditions!

Took the Seguin to 711 (one of my favourite trails :-) also in MINT condition!

Stopped in Magnatewan for some lunch - only to find that BOTH restaurants in Mag are CLOSED ON MONDAY'S & TUESDAY'S! So headed up to Ahmic Harbour via Cl04D Lake Trail. The trail was awesome - no slush on the lake and smooth riding 8-) . Got to Ahmic only to find that the restaurant there CLOSED as well :curse: But the General Store restaurant had some good homemade soup - so we settled for that instead. Back on C104D to C101. There's not as much snow or base up in this area and the C101 was freshly groomed - however, LIMITED conditions at the top end closer to the C104D....watch for rocks and the base is thin. As you travel further south - the base is better and definitely more snow :-) C101 is always a fun ride - especially when it's been freshly groomed! We passed the groomer as he turned off on 804. The rest of C101 was tabletop smooth and a great ride down to C103D

Once we reached the Seguin we headed back towards Kearney and the Seguin was still in EXCELLENT shape given that it was now about 3:00PM it was a fabulous ride all the way back to Kearney.

All in all 198kms today - excellent conditions - excellent Day! :woot::woot:

Hey MM. D North to Sundridge is in great shape all the way to Lake Bernard! Not sure of the trail conditions north of there. Both Almaguin groomers are out and grooming every day ...the trails around Sand Lake area are outstanding with lots of snow. The Ice Caves are good - no slush :-D Watch for logging on the D101B from D south for approx 3 kms! They have plowed it down to gravel - there is no mention of this on any of the websites OFSC or MSR :wtf: It's not pretty - especially if there is no fresh snow to soften the grit!

Enjoy your ride - maybe we'll see you on the trails! :wavey:

Rode the D from Sundridge to Powassan on Saturday. Snow coverage got thinner the further north we rode. The groomer was out Saturday afternoon and turned up some rocks (no fault of his, of course). Hopefully that area got some of the snow that fell on Saturday night and Sunday.
