Yukon
Greetings sledheads , Well as I write this hunting season has officially ended in good old Port severn and that can only mean one thing ! Lets do trail work ! The Baxter Snow Riders in Port Severn will be doing trail work this coming Saturday November 21st on trail 19 weather permitting , if it's drizzle we will go . We will be meeting at Six Mile Marina at 10am . We will be brushing and also draining the standing water on the trail so if you have rubber boots and a Shovel/Grub axe please bring them with you . Some of the much larger holes will be drained using a Trash Pump , we will be accessing the trail using ATV's so if you have one you can drop at Six mile marina for those needing to trailer , we will be treading lightly on the quads as not to disturb the trail to much so if you want to rip the trails up you mind as well stay home . If you don't have a quad we can get you into the bush with our John Deere. I hope to see many volunteers as we need this water moved before the snow flys ! Yukon
We all met at Six Mile Marina at 10 am sharp 15 volunteers in total shop up for the day . We broke off into 2 groups , one group headed north on C-Trail to lay some trees down for the excavator to get in and the other group with me headed down to trail 19 to drain out some of the low lying areas that became pools of mud due to heavy rains and quad damage . Here's some pics from the day . Trail 19 Ben and Kenny working on getting the water moving , draining the larger puddles. Ben knee deep in the mud ! For some of the larger holes where it was near impossible to divert the water because of the terrain being the lowest of the area , we brought in some trash pumps with 200 feet of hose to pump out the sippy holes . Kenny , Ben , Canuck , Neil , Paramuir playing with one of the bigger puddles , it was a little tricky walking through all that slop . Canuck found his place holding the hose and drawing his name in the mud . Here's a shot of a hole that was drained , you can see where the water was to the right of the pic , right to the grass line . I love those rutts by the way too ! We had 3 guys working the remaining section of trail 19 opening several smaller holes and they ended up doing about 60 ft of Corduroy through a section of swamp that has overflowed the trail . In one spot it was it was overflowed a good 2 ft . End of a day on Trail 19 Hey Canuck you forgot the shovel !!!!!! C Trail North Club Trail Director 6milehi and Skeeter21i and several others headed north to get the stage set for the excavator , the trail had sustained serious damage over the summer from illegal 4x4 and quad use here's what they did ! The Excavator will place the fallen trees where they need to be . All in all it was a busy wet and muddy day for both work parties but it was a great day to be outside and have some laughs sharing in the passion we all love . Thanks to all who came out and put aside there time for the day . Many hands make for lighter work !
