  1. Borrowing a friend's small gas caddy to see how it fits. I've sorted out the stuff I carry so this bag will be OK down here. I'll keep the SR21 bag for trips up north.
  2. The 'short bag' I had ordered came in this week. To give you an idea of its capacity it will easily hold a box of 15 12 oz cans...
  3. They opened up in the location where White Water Marine was east of Peterborough. I really can't see the place being open long as their parking lot always seems empty. Never seems to be any customer traffic there. No real horror stories, a couple of middling service issues that should've been noticed before I picked up a sled. Wasn't impressed with Bennett after they moved to Whitby. They had an ATV in the shop for several months waiting for parts. Only real service we've had on the Corridor was getting the DESS cords for our 3 sleds reprogrammed to recognise each sled (or whatever) @ Dan's in Kap'. They wheeled the BUDS gizmo out the door & did it in half an hour. Only issue was the tech didn't realise my sled was a SDI (other 2 were carbed). Once that was noted, the job was completed. I think what they charged us for the 3 sleds/6 DESS cords was what Whitewater/Gateway were going to charge per sled & then we'd have to drop the sleds off...
  4. Exactly. Why make it any easier for them? May as well leave the keys in them as well. I dont even like leaving the truck hooked up to the trailer with the Ranger on it overnight.
  5. @tricky I don't think we saw that many sleds during our travels LOL
  6. Now that video should disappear! LOL
  7. Glad your 1st trip up there was enjoyable! Thanks for the update on the Chain of Lakes. I've know it was there, but have never heard of anyone staying @ it. Good to keep in mind if you happened to be in town during a hockey tournament (I guess that's 1 thing we didn't have to work around this winter). How was the access to it? On the bold, I think folks just stick to TOP A if they're trying to put on miles. I know when I was 1st riding thru there on loops we stuck to TOP A as well. It wasn't until 1 stop @ the Moonbeam clubhouse than an older couple told us about the L123 and guiding us to it. Since then we've spent more time on it than TOP A. The previous 2 winters when we were discussing the route to or from Kap on the Great Big Loops, L123 & L125 was part of the day.
  8. The last few years when I've been riding, I tend not to want to lead, I just feel that I don't ride as fast as the rest of the gang. The other thing is that for the most part on the Northern Blastoff trips, I was lead and my brother rode @ the back w/ the S-I-L & my buddy in the middle. Nowadays, I'd rather ride in the middle or bring up the rear. It's a bit more relaxed 'back there. Besides seeing most of my riding down here is solo, it's a nice change to let someone else lead. That being said a couple of times the other week on L125 (of course LOL) & L129 I had it pretty much pinned. @irREVerent commented that I wasn't lollygagging (or something similar) along. I guess when the sight lines are good and the trail wide I'm more comfortable to run somewhat quicker.
  9. LOL Well @ least I have the Ranger to play on & I can stay away from people doing that. Some firewood we cut last fall to split & pile. Hopefully I get more cycling in that I did last year, that was a dismal season as I was lucky to get out half a dozen times.
  10. You're welcome. I'm just passing the word along about the Advantage. I'm thinking Slomo may have stayed there before it became common knowledge on OC. My last stay in Kap' before we started staying there was in 2016 @ the Super 8 w/ Dave & @apeXMAN That was an end of season ride too. I think we were the only sledders that were staging there (2 rigs). Depends on who's leading...
  11. Yes, considering how things looked last fall we (except for the sledders in D10 & D11) don't have a lot to complain about.
  12. Well if you're doing 110 on a highway marked 80 & barrel roll it into the ditch, the injuries are covered.
  13. That's the story! Enough gas in the lines for him to drive out of the track LOL I think it was told in reference to DW winning Daytona in the Tide car when by all accounts he should've run out of gas.
  14. That looks ugly... A friend was up there years ago & got caught west of Kap when the conditions went south. Candace w/ D15 when the office was near the big bear, said it was pretty ugly watching the sleds heading east.
  15. Trailer is closing after Sat' not Sun'
  16. Reading some of Smokey's stories are pretty funny. One was when NASCAR took the fuel cell out of his car due to size 'issues'. He jumped in it, fired it up, drove it out of the garage area & back to his shop in town...
  17. I have used it in the past but don't like to. What I usually do is just peel off the last permit or two & then stick the new1 in the same spot. I have seen sleds where folks have tried to do something on the w/s or hood only to wind up w/ a mess.
  18. Funny that people will spend an exorbitant amount of money for their quad or SXS & then buy a $45 open face helmet. I think this is more of a trend among the 'older' crowd. The younger riders that I see around here are partial to the MX style. Dirt bikes have never been a big thing around here, so they aren't coming from that scene. I'll take note of helmet styles the next time I'm out in the Ranger once the snow has gone. I've read a few threads online about what certain states require to be street legal. One being DOT approved tire (a 14" TSL Super Swamper, similar to the old Denman Monster Mudder of the 80s, being a favoured tire). As you likely have noticed no real equipment requirements here in Ontario.
  19. No but see what the life insurance actuaries come up w/ if that person would want to buy life insurance compared to a person that is relatively healthy and/or is a non-smoker.
  20. Has there been a push for this ski'? How I take it it would be for a possibly special needs person/head injury victim. How many of them are snowmobilers, let alone operators. I could see if the person was a passenger & then how long/far would they be actually be riding? I had a co-worker (city guy) ask me years ago if we wore helmets while sledding. I said for 1 thing it's mandated by the law, secondly it keeps our heads from freezing...
  21. https://www.mlive.com/public-interest/2021/03/michigan-senate-passes-no-helmet-bill-for-snowmobilers-off-roaders-with-doctors-note.html?fbclid=IwAR2_mol8oV9H-zjppYrbpAWh0hKsiMpxg1yyRoWo66-_ORGBxvJXMI8VJas I wonder how many people will try to use this as a loophole? I can't imagine trail riding w/o a helmet...
  22. That's a cool shot! I can see all your pics in this post.
  23. 'That'll leave a mark...' I know there's Goo Gone or other cleaners by why put it somewhere in the 1st place that if you remove it you leave a mess? Back to the windshields, someone mentioned buffeting a few days ago w/ the version @Techdenis007 possibly. Has anyone noticed this w/ higher windshields? Also what about snow dust accumulating behind it on the dash. I noticed that it was bad this trip mind you it snowed 4 out of the 5 days we were riding.
