  1. Looking @ the 2003 Blastoff pics & the Opaz clubhouse was a bit different. The '98 FZ is still on the go. My buddy's son was riding it last Sat' when I met them. Still looks great. Too bad it's gone. The day we stopped there in '06, brother & I had quite a conversation w/ the girl running the canteen about trapping. A father (trucker) & son eating lunch during the 1 stop we were there. YIKES! I've been in some 'rustic' hunting camps & they were nothing like it. Reminded me of a place a co-worker & I stopped @ for fuel on I-79 between Pittsburgh & Erie PA back in the 90s. It was a 'truck stop' that was more or less a muddy lot w/ a chipboard shack for an office.
  2. This has been around for a while (from 2003): Posting about the mill, I later found out that RYAM owns it now.
  3. Looking for some other photos and thought the younger members might find these interesting. Did the Tour of the Line trip from the Soo (March 30/31, 2003). Waiting @ Hearst for the train to depart Train would back up west past the 'Y' & then proceed to the Soo. On the trip back saw a couple of sleds on the trail near Hawk Jct. In 2006 we did the Tracks to Trails trip Loading in the Soo Parking in the garage (my buddy's SRX) Mattice Clubhouse Opaz cluhouse. Not sure if there is anything in place to indicate the building was beside the trail or not. Bambino's/Mooseland I don't recall it looking that good when I was in to pay for fuel prior to '06. It was pretty sketchy in the restaurant part.
  4. In all the years of staying in Hearst (or elsewhere alongthe Corridor) I haven't heard of any thefts during my stays. Mind you in the 90s a sled was stolen from the Jolly Roger while we were there.
  5. We weren't planning on using it but seeing as the temps dropped & forecast snow the Sun' we were leaving, figured the departure would be easier gearing up. Mind you I was just packing for overnight as opposed to a loop.
  6. Whats the overnight low forecast to be? Is the garage really necessary?
  7. There were sleds @ the Travelodge beside the truck stop & a few by the Chimo when we drove west to Kap 2 weeks ago. Check my database for contact info.
  8. Martens are very curious, probably wanted to check out the sleds. We had run away, stop, look back, repeat on the trail north of Hornepayne 1 trip.
  9. Be careful kids, another truck in the ditch today out by 631...
  10. Well that's it for sledding here. Weather turned to crap yesterday. Sunny and warm +15*, when I went to get my sled shocks yesterday. Then lots of thunder w/ dark clouds. The front & thunderstorm rolled thru around 6. Club Zoom meeting & we were told our trails are now closed & the groomers returned to the clubhouse. I see on the ITG that Old Hastings trails are yellow. @Turbo Doo You guys have fun up on the Corridor & watch out for transports on the trails.
  11. His logic seem quite similar to the 'liability experts' school boards have. One based on what if rather what has actually happened.
  12. Talking to my trucker friend from NB last Thurs'. The worst situation in the area was the 1 apartment building in his opinion.
  13. SMH Taking a shortcut to Cochrane?
  14. Reports on Faceplant that 11 is closed west of Hearst due to weather.
  15. I even remember riding down from Iroquois Falls thru the field beside the Val Gagne school LOL
  16. 2010 trip thru there: 2012: In 2018 when I was up there w/ Dave, @irREVerent & @Moosifer , the road running was in effect.
  17. So they've rerouted TOP A thru there? I didn't notice any changes when I was thru there (watching the road?). LOL I guess the ITG hasn't been updated:
  18. Elog told him to park and rest? Where was that near? I see the red & white OFSC 'waiver sign' in front of the tractor.
  19. There is a parking area south of the highway in Moonbeam (east of Beauvais Rd). It's just west of where L123 turns south. I was stopped in it when I took this photo
  20. We never had any problems there, but when they closed the pool & then the hot tub w/ an accompanying rate increase each time, we looked elsewhere. We've noticed the last few winters, little or no sledders staying there. I've only stayed @ the Super 8 once (w/ SJ and @apeXMAN ) in 2016. Not thrilled about dealing w/ lugging gear up & down from an upper floor.
  21. Not sure how many klicks on my Dupont. I put them on early in the 2nd season I had the sled. 13,500 klicks on it now.
  22. Comfort Inn, Apollo are across the road from TOP A as well.
  23. The Apollo too. Papa Francos and Chucks Roadhouse nearby both are doing dine in or take out. Had a Toppers pizza for the 1st time (delivery), pretty good!
