Yukon Posted November 17, 2010 Share Posted November 17, 2010 We will be getting together this Saturday to brush trail 19 from South Bay road to the tunnel at the 400 ... Someone will be there to meet up with you. We will meet at the Baxter Ward community center at 9 am ( a club member will be there to meet up with you) . Directions for those out of towners---- Click We will provide the chainsaws and a our machine to bring people and gear to the trail , if you have a quad please bring it along... Please remember to bring some rubber boots and a shovel if you have one???? Any replies can be made here or email me at volunteer@baxtersnowriders.com We hope you can make it..... Yukon Posted November 22, 2010 Author Share Posted November 22, 2010 We all met up a 9 am and set out for Trail 19 to see what we could do with the trail , a little brushing and a few dead falls across the trail were cleaned up ... Our biggest issue with this trail is Water , we have some interesting terrain here in Port Severn/Honey Harbor area where the Swamps meet the Canadian shield making many of our low spots difficult to drain and after last weeks heavy rains we had a few spots submerged in loon **** , we got the water moving where we could , and filled in some deep ruts caused by ATV traffic ... Our biggest issue is Bucky the Beaver that little ****! We have a swamp that's now sitting a good 3ft above the trail for a good 50 meter stretch , with no options of a re-route possible , yup you guessed it Canadian Shield again .... We figure the water will still go down and the swamps will freeze quick since there were many with ice skimmed across this morning.... Here's some pics from our work party , Special thanks to Kennydoo, My brother Scott Boogie , Kyle (Hickjock) and our two club Newbies Jill and Bruce .. It was a great to be out for the day ! The funniest moment of the day was when Jill showed up all the guys , they went for the chainsaw and Jill just picked the log up and tossed and Humbled the boys.... nice going Jill LOL! If you ever wonder why the trails haven't been groomed since we have 3ft of snow try and remember the swamps and what may not be frozen underneath all the Powder.
