Canuck
You picked a good day to do it. Great weather, lots of folks on the trail to assist. It was great seeing the teenagers, and their positive attitude to the work at hand. The future of sledding
Yukon
Baxter Snow Riders Trail 15 Open 01.26.2009 Baxter Snow Riders Trail 16 Open 01.26.2009 Baxter Snow Riders Trail 19 Open 01.26.2009 Baxter Snow Riders Top C-Trail From Coldwater to B105 Open 01.26.2009 Trails are finally all broken open!We have had ongoing problems with our Br180 groomer . After Many Volunteer hours put in by Don Hayhurst , George Jones , Smitty and Bud Knowles effecting repairs to the track system ,..... almost 40hrs of mechanic time repairing and replacing warn parts the unit seemed in great shape to start the season. Since that time ,..... a part in the drive motor failed and the unit was down for a couple of days for repairs . Then ,.... the wheels fell off ! A walking beam broke . The unit was placed in the township shop , the beam taken to Calvin Kings where he welded it up ,.... It was replaced and then a hydrolic hose conection let go , .... The hose was repaired and we tried again. We only got from Port Severn to Six Mile Park before the machine quit working properly . The alternator had given up ghost and had to be replaced . Back to the shop , call the mechanic and were out of business for awhile once again . Well,..... here it is Sunday January 25th and were starting again. If trails are not in great shape it isn't due to lack of effort . A special thanks to Don Martin and the Smart Club
Canuck
I mentioned in another post riding C trail from top of Six Mile Lake to Coldwater. A short hop, but trails are in mint condition. You folks around Gravehurst / Bracebridge and even as far north as Huntsville should head south west and try them out. Starting in any of those towns and down to Coldwater (or even further to Midland/Henry's) and then back would make a great day trip. They have not had the traffic one would expect - the 'sleeper' trails of 2009.
