Many people over the years ask me "what is that thing you are wearing around your neck?" Never go riding without them. I ask the kids how cold they think the water is. There are some good answers and sometimes some blank looks. I tell them "Well look. There is ice all around that guy so........cold?" Then I'll ask how long they can stay in the shower with the cold water on?! Tap water isn't anywhere near as cold as falling into icy water. It kind of gets the point across.
