whits-end Posted March 1, 2013 Share Posted March 1, 2013 Caught your attention, no? We often pass thru Englehart; either touring thru; or we build the Charlton/ Englehart trail into a day-loop. Creatures of habit, our gang usually lunched at 'The Soup Place' (our name for the Esso and restaurant on Hwy 11 in Englehart). We've never been disappointed, except last month when we discovered they no longer had premium gas. Not to worry, the trail back-tracks north to exit town and goes right past the McEwen (formerly a Shell) on a sidestreet, or the gasbar across from the mill. Last week, as we rolled into town, we were feeling adventurous. Let's live on the edge and try someplace new! But where? The trail goes right past 'Cousins Pizza' on Hwy 11. As many times as we've passed it, we never felt like pizza. This time, veteran riding partner 'Cousin Bruce' (no relation to the restaurant of similar name) suggested that "a friend of a friend knew someone from the Paisley area who had purchased 'Cousins Pizza' (no relation to the actual person of similar name) a couple of years ago and that we should try it some time." Good call!! Far more than pizza, they offer great home-style cooking, friendly service, lots of parking, and sufficient space to take off your gear. Cousin Bruce highly recommends it! Burgers and fries type food with a few extra surprises to keep you coming back. If you have good cholesterol levels and need to pack in a little extra energy, try the island burger, I dare ya!
