whiskywizard
The boss and I were out to South Mountain to visit old friends so we dragged the sleds along in the hope we'd get a ride in. The weather cooperated; -19C and sunny to start, climbed up to -12C with clouds by 1400h, and I was pleasantly surprised by the trail conditions. I launched at Osgoode Main St, at the Rideau River, and took the A trail NW to the Ficko rail trail. Then north to CR 101, and headed East until it connected with A again and looped back to the Riverbend pub for lunch. These trails turned from yellow to green just last night. We saw a wee bit of "snirt", and the roads are dead bare, but the trails were good. Signage isn't as good as I'm used to, and I was running a route I'd never seen before, based on memory. Better signage would have made my memory seem more capable than it really was. I only logged 86km, but overall it was a great morning. .
