Fred Quimby Posted January 14, 2013 Share Posted January 14, 2013 Take on lake stakes, is that they are a visual guide to get from land trail to land trail (one side of a water crossing to another). They have nothing to due with the ice being safe. Except the general population of sledders think that the stakes mean safe ice...not a guide across the ice.
