    Hope to yes.....lol

Sleds are serviced and read to go. We are out of town until Jan 18 so hoping I can get some riding in from then until end of February.

Plowing has tied me to home for the last couple years but I hired a guy to take over my truck. So far he's been a disappointment.....lol    The skill level he bragged about it his resume and interview is not showing up yet with easy snowfalls. If he hasn't got things figured out by the time I get home in January I might be screwed.

Great to hear....the girlfriend/wife still up for putting some miles on too?

Good help is so hard to find these days, let alone someone you can trust to get it done without you holding their hand....good luck with the hired help, hopefully he works out.

I am surprised you still plow actually, figured you would have put a stop to that by now...

  2. I have the one in the picture above, but I do not recall buying from PA...

For the use that it gets, works great, no issues other than having to add some wood spacers under the running boards where the arm lifts, but that likely varies sled by sled.

The casters are made of steel and have had no issues with them so far or the hoisting turn screw.

The unit is made strong, it is heavy and for less than $200.00, it is a tough deal to beat.....not worth making one for that price.

had those on my doo.  Worked really good

    The only thing that did....LOL!

It seems all feedback on these are excellent.....hoping the Kimpex versions are just a good.

The other bonus to thinner gloves would be less fatigue on the fingers.....yes, getting old, out of shape, etc....

The ski doo ones are 79.99$ cad with free shipping online right now and a dealer near me even had them on sale last week.

i have ran then for a few seasons now and really like them. No Interference issues of any sort - however I turn my kill switch button down and out of the way like the mountain guys haha

Interesting on the price, I was sure when I was looking them up the other day I saw them over $200....which seemed steep, but never thought twice about it!

After freezing my fingers a few years ago, my hands have never been the same.  I have tried various gloves with limited success.  Last year, I decided to use my Choko muffs full time with lighter gloves.  My hands were warm all year and the handwarmers seemed to work so much better with the lighter gloves.

The main problem that I had with the muffs was that I could not find the other controls (dimmer, heater controls, etc) quick enough.  This year, I found a new set from Royal with 'windows' to see the controls.  These have an 'anchoring' ring that fits over the end of the bar to keep the opening an easy target to get my hands in after signalling.  Looking forward to trying them this season.

I assume you are referring to the Kimpex versions......reading this thread and the thought of me buying the DOO ones the last few years, but not actually doing it, I decided to search again this year and found these:

    https://www.kimpex.com/en-ca/products/snowmobile/steering-and-controls/handguards/kimpex-snowmobile-muff-with-window

The DOO ones are over $200.00, if I am not mistaken vs. these that are less than $100.00.

I just went to ORPS this morning and bought a pair (FYI...they have more on the shelf).

They look good, have not tried them on the sled yet, will do that in the next few weeks, if they work as I expect they will, I will invest in a pair of light winter gloves to use and carry my usual Klim gloves with me on rides.

I agree that grooming hours are not funded until December 1st so the district is funding those hours on their own (reserve funds or part of current year operating budget). I have never heard that groomers are not insured before Dec 1 though. Just checked the groomer insurance certificate and it states a policy period of Nov 1, 2019 through Nov 1, 2020.

How about the insurance on the land they run on vs. the equipment itself?

Never sledding area before I didn't know how many miles you could out on doing speed limit and trail conditions.  I know it's easy to put the miles on in Cochran,. Don't try that around orillia area.

    speedlimit, not too far.

LOL...I was reading this post and thinking the exact same thing.

You know they had to add a place to sleep in the Canyon, otherwise doing the speed limit, I am not sure you would be able to make the return trip following the "rules"....:icon_munching:

when there is nothing else open and there is an itch that needs to be scratched, it is awesome! Don't put on your new carbides until after you ride there, but it is usually our first ride. those are called "wearable parts " for a reason!

    x2 on this.

Used to be a good place for an early season ride before OFSC trails are open to scratch that itch.

For a newby to the sport, it is a good as they offer rentals, lodging, food, gas and a trail system that is usually well maintained having plenty of cottage roads that is their main trail system.

And do not forget, they actually make their own snow too.....:icon_munching:

Anyone know whether Arnie’s Cat House on Highway 11 survived the purge.  The Arctic Cat banner was there yesterday as I passed by.

I do not think he has been a Cat dealer for a few years now....so nothing to purge.

Funny you mentioned that. I was in the Home Depot in Waterloo and talking with the rental guy. There were yellow stickers on the dump trailer there and he had mentioned that it's up to you to be legal and you sign off on that when you rent. He said one guy didn't return with the trailer. He was stopped  and he wasn't legal,  everything was impounded. Home Depot basically didn't know where their trailer was.  They had his credit card so they just kept charging him  (if there was any credit left ).

So make sure you use a card with a low limit, is what you're saying :)

I guess the same scenario could apply for uhaul trailers....but they are normally plated with US plates, hmmmm, wonder why that is....

Definitely a step in the right direction! Only worry now is if you happen to own a bobcat and your hauling it to help your buddy out or something.

Pretty sure that will fall into business use as too much of a gray area.

Besides, most that have one likely have a business so they will have the sticker.

Which makes me wonder how home depot third party equipment rentals got around the Yellow sticker with the gear they rent nowadays.

Just to throw some more confusion into this:

    Memo_Annual Inspections_June 2019.pdf

This looks very promising, but doesn't exempt anyone running your personal equipment with no maintenance!

    Long overdue.

Now just a matter of determining your use for some  as you trailer away....

actually this is good news and really no confusion  If it's personal use no yellow stickers   more $ in our pockets   I never thought they would allow this

I have a BVS2 and although it is a great helmet I will likely sell it, I am finding it is too heavy and my neck is very sore at the end of the day after using it. I still prefer my Bell MX-9 everyday of the week.

I have the other doo mod helmet, big weight difference between that and my mx, main reason I continue to wear my mx.

I sure like my Doo Modular. No electric visor, don't need it. As long as the breath box is adjusted properly, it never fogs.

That was one of the things I liked about mine.....no wires!

Wait you were stopped multiple times the same day, asked to blow everything and they never asked about anything  else?

No, I have actually never been asked to blow on any trail stops on my sled.

What I am referencing are trail side stops that I have been involved in, in the last few years.....and witnessing officers that have no knowledge or were checking for trail permit on my sled or the other sleds that they were checking at the same time as me.

Based on the new protocol, sounds like if I am now stopped by three sets of officers in the same area, I will be blowing all three times.....:headbang:...sounds like good times are ahead!

Or that's what they let on anyway. I could see the ones that have spent there career in the GTA not knowing about Trail Permits but if they are stationed in rural or northern areas they'd have to be deaf and blind not to know about permits. JMHO

Oh no, there was no pretending, the one officer even asked me about the permit on the sled when I inquired why they were not checking for them.....I think it was new officers on the job. Both times it was in the Gravenhurst area and stopped multiple times in a short span by a variety of officers, mostly officers in cruisers parked at trail crossing near roads, rather annoying, but such is life.

Why couldn't they at least check for trail pass?

    54 minutes ago, 02Sled said:

Perhaps they actually did... either it's on the sled or it isn't. They wouldn't have to ask for it...

Because sadly many of the non OPP save officers really don't know about the trail system or trail pass. ....wouldn't be the first I've been stopped at trail/roadside check and the officer knew nothing about the trail pass.....

  17. Are you telling me that some of the folks on here have not been been at or near an accident, only to hear it on the news that night and you start to wonder if they are reporting a completely different accident based on the media's version of what you know to just take place?
