Lac Fillion for fuel and lunch (NO MENU - they have what they have when you get there, soup or sandwhich. $2\Litre
Evening meal is premade, covered with saran and put in cooler. Pick the one you want and they will heat it up for you. Covid and not being able to keep a cook full time has meant its a no go for many former happy customers.

Would be nice to see 309(rapid 7) get groomed with fresh snow. The rail line leaving temiscaming should be ok up to ville-marie. Debating leaving from there Saturday.
I believe that when they first opened this year the latest trails in that area to open were the Ville Marie and north trails where there is a lot of open fields etc. They may be more of an issue than the railbed.

No there are 2 or 3. Easiest to just Google New Liskeard accommodations.

Back to Temiscaming
Was going on the 18th but cancelled trip postponed it another week and will see what happens.
Not too promising this year might still have a brand new sled next year with no miles on it.
Wow that first day is a big one given you are on brand new sleds in uninhabited territory. You guys have amazing faith in your new sleds. Enjoy your trip!

I predict that it will get cold, snow, snow will melt, then warm, then showers, then get really warm, followed by a gradual cooling off period and then cold with snow......................
Too bad Bell media fired news and weather people. You could have been THE GUY

I haven't been to Penetang yet this winter - can't imagine there's enough ice to safely 'doo' what you're reporting. I recall talking to an OPP officer. Most ice related injuies (or worse) happen to locals. 'They' ""know" what's safe, what's not. Until they don't. I never forgot that explanation. We tourists stick to the lake's stake line, occasionally veering off 'looking for trouble' with a local. Be safe, folks.
Lake Huron is wide open at Goderich. The only ice is what was pushed up on the beach. There is still 2 Algoma ships hauling salt to destinations between Detroit and Chicago.

Cochrane said they may close trails if rain hits hard, wtf feeling bad for all the business's that rely on the snow, its going to hit them hard
The guy that owns JR's has been moving snow onto the trails with his JD loader and then Kenny has been pushing it around where it needs to be and packing it with the PB.

One of my riding buddies blew the bottom case apart on an almost new Storm in 1998. Leaving Hearst heading to Cochrane one morning and just got on the first freeway stretch. I was following him and he wasn't up to cruising speed yet when a big cloud of grey smoke came out of the bottom of the sled. Towed it back to the dealer in Hearst where last rites were performed.

You are being realistic with what’s in front and forecasted.
it’s done without ever getting started.
We were open for 5 days in our area and had lots of sleds through day and night. I was fortunate enough 600 km. riding from home on 6 different clubs trails all connected and yellow on the map. Thats almost twice as long as we were open last year. I closed the gates where the trail goes through a horse field across the road. Hope I have to open them again but..................

Looking for a main wiring harness for a 2010 switchback 600
You may already know this Soup. The current updated main wiring harness part # is 2411529 updated from part # 2411040. The 600 and the 800 use the same main wiring harness.

Thanks for the update. Staying north of montreal and looping or heading north east and back?
From what I've been reading on Quebec Rider the further north (towards 83) you go the better but reservations are very hard to get.

1998 maybe?
This hangs on the wall in my shop:
We likely had the current map to use in 2001 so your original comment was likely correct.
I had thought we rode the west trail the last year or a year prior to it not being an "official" trail any longer but by this 2006-2007 map, the trails still showed.
-
Thank you Ox! In 2001 we did a 1500+ mile loop starting in New Liskeard / Cochrane/Hearst/Wawa/Sault St. Marie/Iron Bridge/Rocky's/New Liskeard. We used only the Come Play in theSnow map for the whole trip. As I remember that map only had the western trail (which we used) on it but maybe not.
It was an interesting trip. I started out with 8500+ miles on my 2008 XC600. I put a new track on in Hearst and rebuilt the primary clutch at The Shop in Lively. My buddy broke a ski mount on the hydro line north of Halfway. We Magiver'd it and got it replced in SSM the next morning. The dealers were great and we were only held up a few hours for each repair. We rode 2 parts of the North Channel on that trip as well. I had over 10,000 miles on the sled at the end of that trip. It got relegated to a "kids" sled and I got a new 2002 700 Edge X for the next season. Good memories.

Looking for early 2000's trail map of Lake Temagami showing how to get to Field across the lake from Hwy 11 and down to field / river valley. Think it went out past Camp Chimo or White Bear and down to hwy 560?
Also was it not possible to go up North to Mowat landing and either elk lake or cobalt/new Liskeard back then?
HEre are some pics from a "Come Pla in they Snow"map which was handed out for many years by a tour company from Spanish. This map has 2006-2007 on it but I believe the Lake Temagami trails (at least the one towards Rocky's had disappeared a few years before that. Pics are best I could do with my phone.

Unless I win the lottery, I don't see myself buying a new sled anymore. Keep the eyes peeled for a good used one and save half the money of new.
I said that after I bought a leftover Yamaha Vector in July of 2012 LOL.

Can anyone give a first hand report on current trail conditions from Iroquois Falls to Hearst? Hoping to enjoy the area this coming Tuesday thru Friday. Is anyone else heading there this week?
Jackpine SC in Iroquois Falls has had at least one and possibly both their groomer broken down all of last week I believe. Timmins and Cochrane have groomed some of Jackpines trails at least once. Haven't seen any updates on F/B for a couple of days on Timmins and Cochrane F/B. No posts on the Jackpine F/B site since Jan.12th.
