  1. Better get at it while you can. Right behind it is warmer air, going to be 36 here in Michigan (directly west of your storm area) on Sunday, and 50 by Wednesday and long term forecast is 50-55, 10-14 days out with lots of overnights above freezing, and rain some days.

Not trying to be a dick, just letting you know to watch the long term, in case you think you have a week or two, or more to enjoy the riding, and are thinking about putting it off a bit. Make hay while the sun is shining. Good luck to all, get some riding in.

Me, Ima be in a walleye boat on the Saginaw Bay, or Saginaw river, for next week. Lots of big girls in the system right now. Ski

  2. It is going to take a lot more than 4" of fresh from the Soo, to Hearst, to even get started. Looking at the 14 day, I see another possible warm up too, which doesnt make me, or any of you happy. I am seriously going to be in my boat walleye fishing in Michigan, this week. Ski

  3. What the sun didn't take, the rain is killing. It will take a week or more of very below freezing temps, and close to 2 feet of snow for us to start to provide trails, we are all used to. Unsure if our area can recover, and even open this season. We are here in Dub, and onsite, it isnt pretty all along the algoma region. Ski

  4. The big lake (Superior) and all the larger bays are open. Haviland bay, and Harmony beach area have very rotten looking ice. We just drove up from the Soo, to Dubreuilville. there are no snowbanks on 17 or 519. Very little snow in the bush, and what there is varies greatly mile to mile. towns are bare as well. Guys in Michigan are chasing walleye on the rivers in boats, wont be long and the Saginaw bay, Lake St. Clair will be ready for boats.   Ski

I am seriously thinking of getting my C8 out on Thursday and driving it for a couple of days while it is 9-11c.

Lots of sand and salt on the roads, paint chips and corroded aluminum, are not a badge of honor. Take some pride in your toys. :D

Says that while desperately wanting to drag the boat a hundred miles to fish river walleye. I can wait a few more weeks. (I hope) Ski

    Just got up here now.

Low snow cover on everything and hot weather for next week. Even if we got cold and snow next week it would be two weeks before we could open trails. Thats 3rd week in Feb,,,,,,,,,,,,,

    Where is here? Ski

But looking at Togwatee Lodge, that doesn't look too deep there. No-where's near what it should.

The Albany Lodge web cam in the Snowies Range (Laramie, Wyoming) looks like it should be rideable. Not a lot at the lodge, but I'm guessing that there is more as you head up the hill from there. We rode there a few years ago @ Easter.

    Planning on Colorado next week!

Togwotee Lodge said they received close to 2 feet the last few days. Snotel shows 47" which is usually when it starts getting good. I wont go there, unless there is at least 40". Triple Peak near Pinedale only shows 27" so that is loooow. That is just southeast of Jackson, and is a pretty neat place to explore. When you get to the top, you can see the Grey's range, and darn near to Utah. Ski

  10. I just talked to Patrick at the motel in Dub, he said, Hornepayne tried to groom somewhere over the weekend, and lost 2 wheels on the PB groomer due to low snow, rough conditions. Our club has yet to turn a groomer track. Looking grim, even though I know there is a lot of winter left up there. Ski

Snow and cold returns to Cochrane at the end of the week. But its going to take a beating up there for the next 5 days.

The pics Polar Bear Riders have been posting look grim already.

The twins, and Denis have posted pics on FB, around the Hearst, Kap areas. The twins pics show snow (very low depths though) but, Denis' pics from the trail between Hornepayne and Hearst are brutal. Crazy for this time of the year. Ski

  12. Man, usually they are cutting and hauling street side snow banks away, due to no more room to plow snow. Crazy winter. We will be going up Thursday, I have scheduled my PAL class in Wawa for friday, and Saturday. It will make it easier to bring hunting items across, and participate in the local rod and gun clubs. 13. Gonna be a while, especially with the warm up coming. Wawa said they are suspending opening trail operations until weather permits. lakes are slush pits, and they are trying to preserve creek crossings/snow/ice bridges. The area between Dubreuilville and Hornepayne, is very light on snow. and I mean less than a foot. Go to FB look up Wawa Sno Riders, they posted a video, snow, trail report just yesterday. Ski

  14. And I got crap thrown at me for posting this stuff, last week. LOL!

I probably shouldn't say anything about the plus 10 temps, coming for several days next week then. Ski

  15. While going back and rewatching the video, the sledder doesnt do anything right. No look, no signal, didnt follow basic traffic laws, cut the corner on the wrong side of the road, to enter the new roadway direction. Instead of going to the corner, stopping, crossing corner, stopping, looking and crossing the road on the right side of the road, with the flow of traffic. All on the sledder here, in my opinion. This is exactly why municipalities dont want sleds in town, and on roadways. Not many people follow the basic roadway laws, and safety rules.  Ski
