Rouyn Noranda - Alpin Hotelier

The Alpin is another large hotel. It is not directly on the trail but there is direct access from the main trail through a large shopping mall parking lot and across the highway at the traffic lights. There is lots of vehicular traffic but it is a snowmobile friendly town. We parked our sleds at the doors of our ground level rooms. Again, 3 rooms for 7 guys but the rooms were a little “tired”. Dated in décor and furnishings, they are smoking rooms heavily perfumed by the cleaning staff in an attempt to mask the smoke. The restaurant is a lively place called O’Tooles. An Irish theme in a Quebec town. :D Food was good as was the service. The Snowmobiler Package included meals from a preset menu and the selection was varied so no challenge picking a meal and no further out of pocket expense (save the Bevies). Breakfast was in a room just off the main lobby and it was a full breakfast all inclusive.

I’d give it a medium ranking. The location is not bad (at least while there is snow on the asphalt), the meals good, the staff friendly offset a little bit by the rooms.

Access from the main trail TQ83. 70+Rooms. Bar and Licensed Restaurant. Gas about 2 km.

In the 3 person room we paid $70.00 per person with meals included.

In the 2 person room we paid $88.00 per person with meals included.
