District 6 run 1/31

Had a great run this past Saturday with a crew of six. Left Trudy’s and ran the E-trail over to Paudash trails. Lost a idler wheel 10 miles into the trip, it was an outside wheel, so we continued on. Old Hastings and Paudash do a great job on this trail. Ran into a stop patrol in Paudash land, checked our stickers and we are good to go. Ran up to Harcourt and got gas and warmed up a little. It was cold Saturday and snowed most of the day.

The E trail was fantastic from the E109 intersection to the E & B intersection, wide, flat, groomed recently.

B trail on the lake at Eagle lake was not staked, ate a late lunch at the Sir-Sam's ski hill (recommendation from some locals at the gas bar / grocery store) . You go past the ski area on the lake and then bear to your right before the highlands to the next lake.

We parked in the ski lot and walked up to the lodge. Cafeteria style food, coffee bar and Pub (beer 5.50 a can)

After a hearty lunch we took the B trail to Whitney.

B trail could use some more snow as it was snirt in some places (open areas under the hydro lines mostly) better snow cover in the woods.

Ran B106E down to Lake St. Peter and then down to Bancroft and back to camp. Got gas at the shell station south of Bancroft (look for the shell sign just after the tight turn behind the lumber yard, not really well marked)

204 miles round trip, in about 9 hours. Most trails in good to very good shape and this loop is well marked. Really enjoyed the run on E from Harcourt to Eagle lake.
