Kearney Ontario , my yearly update on food, lodging etc.

Well hopefully we will have a great season this winter.  There has been a lot of business closures and if you are coming to the area please check ahead for hours, days etc. of your favorite business.  Most are on facebook.   Fork on Main (formerly Suds on Main) is still up and running, some days limited hours at this time but for sure will change when trails will open.  Edgewater is always the anchor in town, excellent lodging and meals.  Silversands?  We are never sure.  They do not do any marketing or advertising in the area so not even sure if they have gas or rooms.  They tried opening the restaurant as Crazy Mema's Diner last winter but it was gone before the grass was green again and has not reopened as of this week.   Pit Stop Cafe and Pit Stop 518 restaurant are both closed and gone.  I think there are still yurt rentals thru Pit Stop 518 which are winterized.  Dougs Open Air Market and cafe between the Fork on Main and the variety store closed for health/retirement reasons.  That building is empty again.  The Legion restaurant has changed hands again.  DJ's and her fantastic buffets are no more.  It has just reopened as Wendy's Kitchen with very limited hours and limited menu as of today but we have been told that when trails are open the hours and days and menu will expand.   Fetterleys garage and Rickwards Polaris are still 7 days a week.  There is a lovely grocery store at Rickwards as well.  Our LCBO currently is closed Sundays and Mondays, hopefully that will change this winter.  The variety store next to Fork on Main now carries beer.   Scarlett Point Resort, across from the LCBO has gorgeous accomodation and is open year round, full kitchens, lots of parking.   Pizza is available at Yetti's in Emsdale and there is a food truck called Tast Italy at the variety store across the street, they have wings, pizza, poutine, and chili.  That variety store has a full LCBO outlet as well.  Thanks for reading again this year and hopefully it will be an amazing winter!
