  1. I would like to take this opportunity to let you all know that the Bervie Community Centre will be hosting our famous Wing Nights going forward. Please look for them on Facebook or through our Facebook page and give them a like and a share at @berviecommunitycentre, or on Twitter at @BervieCommunity. Their email is berviecc@gmail.com, and the phone number will remain the same as it was at the clubhouse 519-395-5467 to place orders for wings and things!

    It's cheap to eat here:

  2. For those with a Tekvest, did you have to upsize your suit jacket?    I'm considering one, but thinking it will take up too much space and restricting movement.    Don't want to spend the money on another jacket as this one is 2 yrs old

Thanks for the update. I looked at the YouTube video regarding the basic vs Pro ($3.99). From what they said, 'basic' is what we had last year for a fee, now free. Pro has many planning, buddy communication, etc. options. If the above (green, red) is true, hopefully they'll figure out the hues. NO YELLOW! Enough yellow on the trails :)

Okay, today's lesson don't accept anything I write without checking it out yourself.   I was just informed all the colours is because I didn't have TRAIL Status turned on.    Sorry for the confusion.

  4. Just opened the ITG on my iPhone.   I appreciate how they have assigned colours to indicate Club trails vs Feeder trails, etc, but its now confusing as they are using RED for Trunk Trail as well as Unavailable,  GREEN for Connector Trail and Available.

There could be hue differences in the colours that I can't see as I'm Red/Green deficient.   When I look at the map, is the Huntsville area available or is that just showing me Connector Trails.

    Brain,

You are showing your age. I was on a business trip in San Fransico with a young female work colleague years ago. We were in different hotels. So at the end of the work day, I suggested we hook up later and have dinner, discuss the work plan for the next day. She looked me in the eye, smiled and said: " you and I will never hook-up". The term "hook-up" has an entirely different meaning these days to when you and I used it decades ago. It no longer means "meet up" :-)

oh?   too much to know now, especially with all the passwords, lol   Thanks for telling me

I'm Eastern ON, and there are some "special" trail numbering scenarios here in the Eastern townships, that may make the day frustrating without a "heads-up".

Example: South on the A213, then take the 30. It wont be marked East or South...It really helps to know the town names in the direction you want to go..

If you are including the Pembroke area, I have a favorite ride from Pembroke to Specticle Lake lodge that you should consider.

I'm hoping to play follow the leader...lol.   Thanks, I may ask you for your trip plan.

  7. There are so many choices, both within and outside of the Province.   I have a couple former coworker friends that are in Eastern Ontario I would like to hook up with this winter.   I'm going to play the wait and see how D9 makes out for snow before planning trips outside of the area, thinking more late season.

  8. Used set of Rouski Ski Wheels Gen 3 for Ski Doo TS skis. I had them on a 2019 Enduro.

One stopper is worn, (see Photo) but they can be rotated to use the newer surfaces.

One wheel arm was bent and has been straightened. Replacement arms are available from Fortnine for $15.11 if you wish to replace it. Wheels are in excellent shape.

New Gen 3's for the TS ski are listed at Fortnine for $399.00 asking $275.00

  9. To anyone that has used the BRP App.

-Does it give voice guidance for navigation, i.e. "Turn Left in 100m" ?

-Is it a better navigation aid than the ITG?

-I don't have a 7.8" display, therefore I would use it on my iPhone with the Glove Box Extension.   Is the contrast between background and trail better than the ITG?

    thanks

I think real aggressive riders don’t like wheels and I have heard of a few cases of them coming down, when people jump sled like in Bryan’s case. Also complaints about throwing powder snow too at rider.
Lots of people like them too. Never had them so been sitting on fence about getting them. So far carbides seem to last 10,000 km’s.

Bought a new set of 5” TS carbides but will hold off until mid winter to install once the trails have a good base

As with your findings,  9k on mine and probably 60% of the original carbide thickness still there but very dull

I've had Rouski's since 2006 and the only time they were down when I didn't want them down was when I forgot to put them back up LOL. I have never been accused of driving too slow but never had your problem. The ones I bought in 2006 had (I believe)3  spring tension settings. I'm not sure if the newer versions have that same feature but if they do, that might help your issue.

I’m not aware of being able to adjust the preload but I will look into this.   Thank you

  12. After reviewing what everyone is using and finding out what works with the TS ski and what doesn't, I may have to resort to putting the Rouski wheels back on.

But before doing that I need to figure out some way to keep them in the retracted position as the spring preload is not enough when conditions are rough, such as going across a ploughed field at speed.    The stutter bumps as I call them have caught me twice, where an oscillation sets up causing the wheel to eventual bounce into the engaged position.   When that happens that ski catches and almost flips the sled.

I'm sure if I rode at the posted speed, (50Kph) this wouldn't be an issue.   But in all honesty, an open field, far away from a house, who doesn't open it up a bit.

Any suggestions on how to lock the Rouski Wheel in place instead of relying on the spring preload?

    thanks

that’s what I use and can drive sled every where. Dollies are in corner collecting dust now. I drive right into boots outside put a nylon pin there the ski loop. Drive right in Garage and back right out. No more turning sled around or pushing it. Water ruins dollies in a hurry too and they always fell off too. Great for loading sled into a truck or trailer bed too. No more catching or carbide damage.

Only problem I see with them is the inability to turn.    Great idea though

how about something like this? https://www.denniskirk.com/skinz/ski-guards-sg100-bk.p106040.prd/106040.sku

or this is what we use on our asphalt, they have rubber wheels instead of plastic and roll nicely... a lot better than the cheap plastic wheeled caddies. aluminum version: https://www.extrememax.com/product-p/5800.0225.htm

    steel version: https://www.extrememax.com/product-p/5800.0232.htm

they are not cheap but, they roll so nice, even on rough or poor surfaces, sans dirt, gravel. the rubber wheels are the key here.

you could buy the cheap economy version, then buy the replacement rubber wheels: https://www.extrememax.com/product-p/5800.0246.htm

    economy caddy: https://www.extrememax.com/product-p/5800.2000.htm

    Ski

thanks for the suggestions, the skinz are a great idea, but there would be no ability to turn with them on.

    I've hadn't seen the V shaped dolly....thanks

  15. I've taken the Rouski wheels off my TS skis and won't be putting anything like them back on.

I have a concrete driveway and want something that I can slip under the skis so the carbides don't damage the driveway.   This will be for those occasions I'm not trailering and want to ride through town to get to the trail.

Found negatives on just about everything out there.  For example, the Extreme Max dollies that secure with two cables, you sometimes need pliers to unhook the cable as they get wedged in and won't come out of their locked position.   Maxx Super Savers, flex and bend easily.    Some do not fit with the TS Ski as the spindles are much bigger than a standard spindle.

    Thoughts and suggestions ?

    thanks

    brian
