    Is that Jens old sled?

I am not in a huge panic but I am definitely keeping my eyes open for a nice 600X or something comparable for $10K.   All my buddies are getting rid of their sleds and I would have ridden more this winter if my dad would have come with me.    My mom wont let him buy another sled but he is always up for rip somewhere.

I seen on marketplace a 600 ski doo, think it was a 22 for $9000

  2. Fairly light for me as well considering the conditions and crazy ass weather. Close to 1000kms so far and I’m done. Just got back from a friends in Bancroft area… had to trailer out of his place even w logging and closed trails. Once in the bush things were decent. Just Not worth the 10hr drive to Cochrane when it’s that busy.

  4. We dropped in Atwood Saturday morning and on trails by 9am. Great day overall. Decided to try and stay away from heavy traffic areas. Most trails were great in the AM. By time we looped back down around, things were getting fairly tough. Good day all around. Little over 300kms on the dial today. Also hit this milestone today.  Bought the sled new in 2012. Motor hasn’t been touched. Still has around 120psi each side.

I haven’t rode c101 d In years. But my uncle has a place close to it to east of parry sound. I let you know after my first ride 😎.  Usually the area gets lots of snow which makes for some smooth scenic trails.

From what I’ve gathered over your last year or so of posts is that….1 you have rode minimal

    miles/kms since ‘06,

and 2… you clearly have no clue of what hell you are talking about!… I’ve enjoyed the entertainment you’ve spewed over the years here, but….. time to cash out bud!

Any road running on that run?  Looking at this weekend and debating what to do.  Was thinking Kirkland Lake, but hotels are filled with kids sport teams.  Maybe Elk Lake.  Didn't know if Sudbury would be too far south to start.

From the reports I’ve seen… things look dam near mid season Elk Lake area! Can’t beat staying/staging from elk lake wilderness resort!

    To the bar baby!

Only way to break em in!!…. Or so that’s the way we use to do it with the ol dirt bikes…. Could basically rebuild between moto’s! Lol!!……I remember a friend of my dad telling me a story at his funeral about how they rebuilt the top end of an old 340

polaris in old hunt camp they were staying at. Picked it up and turned er sideways through the doorway and set er down beside the wood stove….. they had parts bc their bud owned/operated Polaris dealer.. circa mid to

    late 70’s..early mid 80’s

No.   That was not me.    My dad and I had a car dealership called Ross Rocher Sales, that sold a lot of cool stuff.    In our hay day I was bringing Bass Boats up from the USA in the summer, selling 100-120 used sleds every fall and then moved onto importing Husqvarna and Gas Gas motorcycles into Canada.    It was lots of fun.   We sold the property in 2012 to Loblaws to build a No Frills and my dad retired.    I am a Realtor now but still dabble in that stuff as a hobby.

I remember that place. Definitely lots of cool units through there over the years. Always remember seeing your ads in auto, boat/bike rv trader. Every time I made it to Stratford I’d stop in and have a gander.

My season is over as well but for a different reason.    I sold my sled and it was picked up by the new owner today.

Parked the sled at cottage. 3100 km for season..so far 😀 I did not go on an overnight ride or travel from home base. Was a great winter for me. The cost of a permit is peanuts if you are able to get out and use it.
Planning to get a couple day’s riding in yet in Golden BC before end of month. If I’m lucky get back for a few days of late season play before Easter.
Support your local snowmobile club!! Hats off to the many volunteers in all aspects of the organization that make it work. Cheers.

Wonder if a more dense foam costs more money than and it’s just a cost cutting measure.

They all cut costs wherever they can. Only us as avid real time users notice the deficiencies

Love that sign! Took pics last year when I was over that way on a day trip. Want get some to incorporate into our trail system here in the tail end of D5….. should be distributed throughout all of OFSC

When I replaced my trailer tires recently on my trailer I noticed the one tire had uneven wear, cannot recall if it was the inside or outside, but by coincidence it was the same side of the trailer that I usually haul a single sled on.

So I now make a greater effort to alternate sides I tend to use that my sled goes on.

    Me too!

I personally do not see or have seen the value in the last 15+ years of towing a couple sleds either in my old open 2-sled trailer or my current TC118 that gives a reason to have brakes on the sled trailer.

One more thing to service that I own - if there was a value, I would want them.

Now if the trailer was bigger and more weight, totally different story.

As hard as it can be, I try to simplify things where I can in life, more now than ever before.

I get the safety side of it, just do not see the justification with these trailers.

I have always towed with a truck too, either 1/2 or 3/4 - maybe if I used a lighter & smaller vehicle, I would have a different opinion.

I couldn’t agree more. I’ve turned a lot of miles pulling trailer’s of all variations over the years, and maybe just the way I was taught and told, but for me,  if there’s more than one axle, I want want the brakes. Just nice to have the extra help if you find yourself in quick jam.

    In Ontario

    Brakes

If your trailer has a gross trailer weight, vehicle and load of 1,360 kilograms or more, it must have brakes strong enough to stop and hold the trailer.

Because of the 1360kg or 2,998lbs weight rating for brakes being required it is common to see manufacturers use a 3,500lbs axle and derate capacity to 2,990lbs.  My single axle open ATV trailer uses a 3,500lbs axle with max weight of trailer rated at 2,990 lbs.  It rarely sees 2 atvs loaded and never winter.

I am not saying brakes on a single axle sled trailer are not useful only when legally required.

I remember years ago my buddies had a 4 place open sled trailer with hydraulic brakes.   We were lucky when trailer started pushing my buddies full size truck we down an snow and ice covered hill and that we had the entire road to maneuver.   That day changed our thought process really quickly.

Been there and done that. Not a lot of fun.
