  1. Gambled and didn't sell the sleds when the market was hot.

That'll teach me to get emotionally invested in an activity controlled by a government.

Let's face it, we all saw this coming when they offered trail passes months early this year.

Barring a miracle, this sport will go the way of windsurfing.

  2. Not going to hold out much hope, but not going to give up on a $3.99 app.

There's no reason to have a less than stellar tool at our disposal.

Our neighbors have a beauty right next door.

There's ZERO need to re-invent the wheel.

  3. For the 1st year back into sledding I have passed on the  QC permit this year.

Sad, but I have little faith in politicians, let alone local BS. Last Spring, our borders were selectively closed,  by local cops, even friends with property there were denied access.

In one direction. Note there was zero restrictions on the 1000s of construction workers headed here, and others who work in Ontario, and live much cheaper in QC.

It will be my go-to if Ontario trails shut down. Miles and miles of logging roads and others to be enjoyed. Much closer than Ontario Crown Land.

  4. Had to deal with our home insurance, we are insuring 3, our investment house, our current home (sold to a developer, we're in it as long as we need it) and our new buy, not quite ready to be in as of the time of the call. It got complicated, but you'd think with 3 policies I'd get reasonable, if not slightly preferential treatment. Who has 3 home policies?? Nope. Threats and headaches.

45 minute waits, and 2+ hour calls were the norm. Calls were answered by an agent in Newfoundland.

It's Diane's insurance co, had her home policy since the 80s.

Was a small local, now bought several times, a large conglomeration.

When I deal with my Desjardins (Was State Farm, only company remotely interested in green plated dirt bikes) for my 2 sleds, 2 bikes, and RV, I know who's picking up the phone, and who's going to be answering my questions.

It's a local call. I've never waited more than 3 rings to hear a familiar voice say hello.

  5. I respectfully disagree with "hiding" trails. I'd be all for it if it worked.

In the opinion of my local club presidents, it accomplishes nothing.

What's required is enforcement, which for some reason, the government will not provide, or allow the clubs to have any enforcement tools.

Every trail I drive by in my area that isn't through a corn field is a mucky rutted mess. Boulders and barriers are winched away.

I'd like to see the stats of actual arrests and convictions for trespassing.

  6. Ridiculous.

This is as weak as taking down the ITG.

Did the paper maps all self-destruct?

From a secrecy standpoint, it's like watching Get Smart.

If anyone actually cared about trail abuse and trespassing, they'd step up enforcement, not pretend the trails vanish.
