  1. As long as they don't change the rules in the middle of the game I'm OK with it.

I got dinged 20+ years ago with a .05 . I didn't know there WAS such a thing. It cost me a 24 hour suspension, and I had to get my car towed, and impounded ($300) as well as get me and my passengers home, ($65) and a cab to the dark/far side of town ($80) the next day to get my car back. Some warning. I had broken NO law.

I'd MUCH rather see more visible enforcement, which would help us all more from the wacky drivers I see daily.

  2. Sledjunk, I guess the tuner ski piece isn't as robust as the old school one. Those were bulletproof. 5 seasons, no issues.

On the Rollerskis, I should have taken pics.

There's a very coarse thread where the pivot bolt goes through the mounting plate. Looks more like something on a jar than on a fastener.

No way to repair it. Due to galvanic corrosion (?) there was a fair amount of metal missing.

    Warranty is 3 months.

    Roughly $143 per month.

  3. RollerSki? If it's anything like the setup for the Yamaha tuner ski,  beware the corrosion that happens on that coarse threaded "bolt".

When I took mine apart for maintenance the threads were almost destroyed by corrosion. I re-assembled with copious quantities of nickel based anti seize, and kept my fingers X-ed.

Held together for 3000+ km last year.

If I keep the tuner skis for another year, I'll see how it held up. I have to replace the virtually inaccessible, feeble bolts that secure the plate to the ski (Grrrrr).

    Never again.

  4. IMHO, if there isn't change, it WILL get ugly.

I hear on FB from a club executive or otherwise through the grapevine things will open tomorrow,  I make plans.  I ride, get home, check club website, trails marked closed, ITG says closed, 2 days later, same thing. Have I been riding for 3 days on a closed trail? With dozens of other people, club executive included, perfectly groomed? Trespassing, breaking the law, no insurance, etc. etc?

I'm at the point where I'll just drive by my local trail head to check for a visual status. I wouldn't have 1/2 the miles I have on this year if I went by the ITG. Tired of meeting frustrated people on the trails too, who sat home, and didn't know the trails were "open".

I'm too old to play outlaw, but in an on/off season, I'm not waiting for a much maligned website to tell me when it's ok to play.

  5. Hmmmmm....

I prefer trails with turns. I can see the rail lines being OK for traversing an area in a hurry, and with good visibility.

I prefer to ride (when I can!)up in the Missing Link area. Here's hoping the rail trail there will be an addition, not a substitution.

  6. Great pic!

Maybe it was just the times, but my 74 340FA seemed fast at the time. I hit 80 mph on a radar run, I ran out of nerve before the 340 ran out of steam.

Unbeknownst to me at the time of purchase,  it had been tweaked by some previous owner/maniac....Like my hobby car, it preferred a mix of pump fuel, and Avgas.

Both my Ski-Doos were pretty reliable, the only issues I remember were minor carb issues, and the darned ratchet/pawl mechanisms on the pull starter would disintegrate regularly. Having 2 machines wasn't a luxury back then. I'd ride one while the other was awaiting parts, or the inclination to repair it.
