  1. There should not be any question from any officer. Regardless of whether they "say" they aren't enforcing it, Service Ontario is very clear that at the moment, any license place that normally expired on or after March 1, 2020 is NOT expired.. there is therefore nothing to ticket. I was also going to do it online but the website says you can only renew if they aren't expired yet.. I'm surprised that some have been able to do it so I might try anyways... https://www.ontario.ca/page/serviceontario-covid-19-coronavirus-response#section-1 Extended expiry date You may not need to renew your product(s) at this time. Products that expired on or after March 1, 2020, have an extended expiry date until further notice. We will notify you when it is time to renew. This includes your: licence plate sticker
  2. You can kiss that aspect goodbye. My club was just told by the OFSC that they had to remove anything from their website about trail status and only provide links to the ITG. Any social media reports by a club are also only supposed to provide a link to the ITG. My club went from yellow to green this past Friday, and the ITG was only updated by late Monday or Tuesday...
  3. That's not how I read that. The OFSC started making the clubs aware that their non-standard LUP's put them (the club) at risk. The OFSC insurance policy and coverage hasn't changed. They have a standard worded LUP that the clubs are supposed to use. Saying the OFSC changed something is like being mad your car insurance didn't cover your car when you're insured for casual use but use it for business use instead...
  4. "willful misconduct and/or negligence on the part of the landowner" So these cities believe they should be able to sabotage the sled trails and the OFSC should bear the liability if they do this? SMDH!! I mean are they really thinking there will be some city-sanctioned action to cause willful misconduct on the trails? What happens to people driving along the roads in Larose forest in the offseason? Why aren't they worried about liability concerns then?
  5. If you just read those parts, without realizing what they are actually saying, then that's the first impression I got.. I had to double check to realize it's not +40hp at 8k ft above Sea Level, even though the RHS equivalent is saying -40 at 8k ft above Sea Level.. a quick view of both sides can make you think it's +40 above Sea Level.
  6. I know that's the whole point, but on the RHS of the graph, they compare the NA to the NA at different elevations and show the -40hp, then on the LHS they compare the turbo to the turbo at different elevations, but show +40hp even though the hp hasn't changed..because they've now changed the comparison
  7. Did you go up this past weekend? If they are still red this coming weekend I'd be curious as to the condition of those sections... Thanks!
  8. I have to either laugh at this, or applaud the marketing genius. According to the RHS of the image, a regular 850 Etech is 165hp a Sea level, but 125hp at 8,000 ft..which they show as a -25% / -40hp (ie. comparing the same sled at Sea and 8k ft).. On the LHS of the image the 850 Etech Turbo is 165 hp at Sea Level, but still 165hp at 8,000 ft.. which they show as +25% / +40hp, but in reality it should be +0% / +0HP because it doesn't change from Sea Level to 8k ft. Of course that doesn't really sound very good, so instead they are now comparing the Turbo to the non-turbo at 8k ft, but it was a bit of a head scratcher at first..
  9. Were those in Canada? I'd like to think those results wouldn't occur here but my faith in good ol' Canadian logic seems to waning recently...
  10. Why are there some *ahem" missing links in the Missing Link trails (heh heh..see what I did there? ) These red areas are on both sides of the Parking lot... Anyone been up there recently?
  11. What I meant from the question is that the GRCA is technically protected from liability (as is the OFSC) so why would they want to make the OFSC liable for non-sledders on the trail? But of course, as you point out, in this litigious society I suppose if they get sued they want a means to counter-sue the OFSC... I wish I had become a lawyer! It still boggles my mind that someone can willfully trespass on someone's property, injure themselves and successfully sue the owner of the property...
  12. LOL... There isn't anything in Ottawa to "weather the storm" from. Barely a few accumulated inches of snow in the fields I'm afraid..and this weekend is going to be mostly rain and freezing rain..I bet we are down to bare grass after this... Mattawa forecast looks great though! No rain and I think another 20+cms of snow! Deep River not too bad either.. still 10+mm of rain, but followed by snow afterwards.. so fingers crossed that holds out or gets even better (i.e. rainfall ends up snowfall) for them!
  13. Here's an interesting quick read about the Occupiers’ Liability Act. https://diamondlaw.ca/blog/find-out-if-you-are-protected-under-ontario-premises-liability-law It appears that anyone entering property to commit a crime, or that is trespassing without the occupier's permission or knowledge, is not protected by the Liability Act..ie this means they assume the risks associated with entering the property. Seems to me that anyone not allowed on the OFSC prescribed trail is a trespasser and would have to bear the risks of doing so...
  14. Aren't we also supposed to keep the paperwork that accompanies the trail pass with us at all times as well? That paperwork identifies the sled the pass is supposed to be attached to. I'm surprised they decided to wait for an online system to start checking this.. could have been some easy tickets in the past..
  15. I think I'm going to be a minority here and say that if I lent my sled to someone, and it blew up due to mechanical failure, there is no way I would ask them to pay for it, unless they caused said mechanical failure. If I sent them on their way, full tank of gas, full tank of oil, greased skid and good bearings, and the engine just puked that is in no way their doing, and it would have happened to me riding it as well..to ask your friend for money is profiteering in my mind. I fully agree with "you break it, you fix it (or buy it)" ... but not with "if it happens to break while you were using it, you fix it (or buy it)". That's extreme in my mind. Paul.
  16. Well you got me on that one.. I hadn't even noticed that before you mentioned it.. now I find it annoying too!
  17. So what exactly makes this so superior to the ITG at the moment? Still displays the status just like ITG..only it took them over 5 years to catch up? I honestly don't understand your love of the Quebec system.. up until this coming year you needed to consult 3 separate websites to find out if the trails were open to plan a trip, and you still raved over it.. SMH. I just tried to do a quick run on the site, and I'm having some similar issues as the ITG (i.e. it's giving me a longer route than I want to do.. I can't get it to take the shortest route even if I add a waypoint in the middle..
  18. There's a workaround for that. When on your pc/laptop, size the webpage the approximate dimensions of a cell phone..the system will think you are looking at on a mobile, and the blurb isn't there..then you can maximize the screen and it stays away..good for making trail maps, etc.. but if you refresh the screen while it's maximized you will get the blurb back..
  19. Then when you maximize you get the whole screen available.
  20. Same trick as last year still works.. change the parameters of your browser to be the approx size of a cell phone (i.e. a long rectangle) then open up the ITG. The dimesions make it think you're on a phone. Then you can maximize the window and the side bar stays gone.
  21. Doesn't look like it's working..shouldn't they all be "red" right now?
  22. Every year I have been the guy that buys the pass on the last day of the discount (Nov 1st). Two years I got caught in that system issue that took two weeks to resolve..I knew they would fix it but still had me a bit worried. This year I actually did it. Ordered the passes on the first day they were available. Funny thing is last week I still remember thinking I need to order the trail passes until I remembered I already did it! LOL
  23. I was just thinking the same thing..someone posted they were up 35% compared to last year..(or so I thought)
