Anyone done this, this year ?

anyone know if there is gas at the canyon that is open all day everyday ?

is it worth the trip ?

thinking of going from Cochrane to Smooth Rock Falls via the canyon a103 route on Sunday Feb 27.

    thanks for your help

Yep, just did that run twice this past week.

Guys are open and only accept cash as payment. It is near $5 / Litre.

The west side is passable but not as enjoyable as the east side.

    • Thanks 1
  3. I can chime in here .. ive been running bergstrom triples for last 2 seasons on my 'winder. Never cared for them too much.

I just found a set of Semi Aggressive snow trackers and just got back from my first ride with them, wow .. what a difference.

Why i never originally went with them in the first place i dont know ..  i hear the same stories as mentioned above and im not worried about it.

Im an aggressive rider and will certainly put them to the test next week up north

Yes, but doing a good deed now could become a hassle for you in the messed world we live in - sad.

Still more to this story than a "thanks" though.

100% agree. They are now pushing this story to every news media and social site now. There is something up for sure ..

    Nice try.

There is nothing preventing someone from naming you in a Statement of Claim.

You can choose to defend and try using that as your first line, but you're getting served.

True, you can be served doesnt mean you are or will be paying into someones lawsuit.

As long as you act in good faith, the GSA protects you from lawsuits and has already been tried here in a court of law.

  6. Just an FYI. The HTA was changed in Sept of last year to include all private entities as well.

ie parking lots etc.  I dont think that includes snowmobile trails with the exception of road running, or alongside a highway. Again, up to officer interpretation.

Where did you race? Just curious, because I believe they were testing them at SOAR around the time I quit racing. Forget if it was Bickle who brought them or Fawaz.

Yeah Fawaz saw them when we were testing them out at Mosport and Calabogie. The guy who really took off with them is Eric Moffiete (spelled wrong im sure) as he continously to this day still sells em .. yep did my stint in SOAR too.

the latest gens fit inside the leathers for motorcycle racing, riding, and deploy when you leave the proximity of the pull cord, or the inertia meter senses you have left the bike. but, yes they still make the airbag vests which deploy around your chest, head, neck, shoulders, ribs. helps a lot. Ski

Yep, the vests were the first for market. And than they started building them into the suits, but at a cost of 5 grand.

Ive been away from racing for almost 7 years now .. and im sure the technology has grown leaps and bounds.

    Nope

But I am interested in this "deploying" vest mentioned above?

Not in getting one, just the mechanics and expectations of it.

I understand those for avalanches - but how does that work in an "over (or much worse - "Into") the bars situation?

The inflatable vests that was being mentioned i was testing them here in Ontario years ago for motorcycle racing.

They fit over top of your leathers and attach via a cord. When seperated from bike the cord fires into the C02 canister, and inflates pretty much all of your torso, neck area.

They deinflate themselves after a few minutes, and as long as the "deployed airbag" is not damaged you push it all back together and re install a new CO2 cartridge and good to go.

I dont know if they would be beneficial to the sport of snowmobiling though, but anything helps ..

No that would've been my father or my my brother (still is).

A thought that just came to mind, I wonder if in the case of the Microtel, assuming that this has been the policy all season (since they'd likely see more staging sledders in KL) that they're hurting for business? Trying to find 'new revenue streams' as the corporate types are so fond of saying...

Guy at the desk at microtel in KL told us that they had only seen 14 truck / trailer combos so far this season. Normally its packed and they have an overflow lot. When we were there for the 4 nights, there was only at best 4 trucks including mine in the lot.

  11. Just experienced the same thing at the Microtel in Kirkland lake. We booked 4 nights there and 1 in cochrane.  Told us theyd have to charge us $50 per night to keep the truck/trailer there, when we are not there.

Told them to call the manager up at home, and call me in my room direct.  That got sorted real fast ..

Another thing which was weird is they dont allow you to park your sleds outside the hotel. They must be put back in the trailer at night ...

  12. Anyone have info from the A108Q which goes down the river towards the quebec border?

(besides it being red due to health district) .. was hoping to run from Kirkland lake to Temi shores into Quebec.

The club gave the usual response .. but hoping someone has run it, or someone local with insight?

Revrnd and I will be riding in the area for several days, starting next Saturday...staging from Kap for 5 days, but spending Saturday night at the Companion in Hearst.  Keep an eye out for a couple of almost identical Blizzards, and if you see us, stop and say hi.

Watch for a blue sidewinder and manta green 'doo ..

Were in the area from Friday till wednesday (.. ish. )

  14. We just ran from Lindsay all the way up the railbed, around harcourt and wilberforce and back into hali and down.

Got stopped twice and we had guys from Toronto with us ( out of their approved health units) and they just checked paperwork and told us to move on.

Post if you know of any other towing outfits that will haul sleds.

@infernobuster Did Brinklow's out of Bancroft take your sled for you?

Cant recall the company name now. But that doesnt sound familiar ..
