Met snowchopper today at the Fork-on-the-Trail (Kearney Legion). Nice fellow. Chatted only for 5 minutes or so, as my riding buddies were ready to go before snowchopper spoke up and introduced himself. Food was good, by the way, and served with a smile.

Snowchopper is right, it was chilly around Kearney this morning. Minus 27 at the visitor centre when we ventured out, whereas it had been only minus 24 when we left Gravenhurst an hour earlier.

One of my buddies was cold all day on his brand new Renegade turbo, especially his hands. Maybe he's cold blooded. I was warm as toast on the 17 Grand Touring.

We were stopped by two OPP officers on the Seguin Trail. Very efficient and professional: looked at our sleds for registration numbers and permits, spoke briefly with each of us to check that we were coherent, and sent us on our way.

    Trails were excellent!

Nice to meet you Blake. I was also stopped and checked by the Opp today.

I found my 900 turbo to be a colder ride than my axys was

My previous sled was a Doo XR chassis with a mid height windshield. It was way warmer then my new gen 4 chassis. This one is narrower and has a lower windshield with hand gaurds.Might have to buck up and buy a taller shield.

Hmmm. They got some yellow on the map now, showing their section of seguin open. And their latest FB post said all issues have been resolved. Maybe they're out grooming it up tonight.

When i went by this morning their trail east of the shed were groomed into Kearney. The seguin west of the shed at the railroad tracks was untouched. I did stop at the shed as i saw Marks truck there and banged on the door but they were out. I thought i ask how they were making out.  Things must have changed from this morning.:right_on:

  4. Got lucky here in Kearney. We had rain late friday night till early saturday morning.About 11am saturday morning the temp went negative. By noon we were getting really fine snow for the remainder of the day. Got up sunday morning and it was minus 15 celcius.Approx 4 inches of fresh snow. I think we got off pretty lucky. Looks like the Almaguin groomer might have been on the move to clear trails today....

  5. Might have 4 inches in Kearney.Almaguin groomers have not turned a track yet. Highland Rovers were out just before Christmas on the Seguin but they are also parked. Friends of mine that rent a cottage on Sand Lake for the winter just left Kearney this morning and are heading to Cochrane for a few days.
