Although I like the AC brand, they are still falling behind in shock technology and still using the old gauge set when everyone else is offering digital, GPS, etc.  Although the new design looks great, its really the blast with a better skid.

Seriously? You need to do some more and better research before making a statement like that. There is not a darn thing that is the same from a Blast to the Catalyst.  Ok, maybe a track option but nothing else.

  2. Just got back from the Yoop. Conditions were variable,  from OK to excellent.  Stayed in  Munising and went both east and west. Grand Marais was OK, Marquette was excellent.  Don't go too far south from either, conditions were noticeably worse further south when driving up

OK, I gotta ask...with 2 sleds in a 6 X 12 trailer, positioned as shown in the pic Zertrider posted above, how on earth is it  possible to tie them down properly to keep them from bouncing around while on the road, and likely damaging each other and/or the sides of the trailer? Also, Stoney raises a good point about weight distribution...I would be concerned there's not enough tongue weight to be safe on the road.

Skis touch walls before any part of the sled. So I put in the sleds, and mounted a couple of floor anchors where they were convenient. Pull front ends slightly towards the walls, and straight down with the rear. Have towed for 6hrs with no contact between  sleds.

And axle setback is enough to keep proper weight on the tongue.

Hi. Sorry, I'm trying to figure out how you get two 136" tracked sleds in a 6x12? Jam one in the nose, slide the ass to one side, and you say there is enough room to get the 2nd skis and sled far enough in to close the door with only a 12' box? Really appreciate if you have a picture. $8K can easily be spent compared to $13K.

    Thanks

Drive the first in, slide rear end over, and back in the 2nd. Easily room for 2. Erased the picture that I did have on my phone, but easily fit my 137 Procross and a 129 Polaris or another Procross.

  5. I have a couple trailers at my disposal,  and having just a basic V-nose 6x12, makes it easy for me for just 2 sleds. Will it last forever? Nope  but at $7g brand new when I bought it a year ago, who cares. I oil spray it before winter, and it gets used every week in the summer for the kids race truck. For more sleds, we have an all aluminum 7x19? that we can get 4 in when needed

Usually when we go up to suds we stage from the STP lot and go from there. Actually we are going up Wednesday morning and may leave our rig there for our saddle bag trip or trailer up a little further depending on trail conditions. Let us know what the trails are like when you get a chance.

Might want to check the weather. Going to be 9 Thursday after 5deg on Wednesday. Wouldn't go too far from the trailer

On Thursday afternoon we rode A trail south from Elk Lake all the way to New Liskeard.   It was in great condition.    Some drifting in fields but still in great condition.

This morning we rode the A trail from New Liskeard to A101D.   It was in great shape.   From Latchford to Temagami was one of best condition trails I have ridden!   Groomer operators deserve praise in that area.

Same. Left NL yesterday, and to Latchford trails were OK. From the dam to Temagami were heavenly. Had lunch at Temagami Shores and continued south. And from Martin River to the D were the same, absolutely perfect

Why do others not ride this area?  Good Question.

My colleagues and I are lucky to live in and ride District 13 (North of Lake Huron region).   We get our November riding fix north of Sault Ste. Marie, then move eastward to Aubrey Falls / Black Creek for December, then south to Elliot Lake / Blind River, Iron Bridge, Thessalon, Bruce Mines, Spanish and even Gore Bay for January-Feb-March, then reverse the process for April.  Traffic is light and on some days can usually count how many sleds you see all day on less than 2 hands.

Cross-Country riding is my particular interest in this region.

Glad you enjoyed your trip ZertRider.  Hope you make it back again someday.

    We will be back.

Oh  and breakfast at the 17 Restaurant in Blind River. Fairly priced and excellent.

And Rustys Cafe for dinner in Blind River was.......... interesting. Rusty is an interesting character.

Did you cross the channel from Gore Bay to Spanish? I noticed its been red on the OFSC map.

No. Rods from Killarney to Little Current , then over to Whitefish Falls.

Wasn't going to do a big crossing that wasn't staked.

  10. So why do more people not ride this area? It was absolutely great. Trails were fantastic. Lots of different loops available.  Rode from Killarney across Georgian Bay. Neat to do, but don't need to do it again. But from Whitefish Falls to Blind River and up to Elliot Lake and back to Espanola is something I am going to do again. Over 3 days and I would guess we met maybe 30 sleds.

Mostly tight and twisty unless you get on the pipeline or powerline sections of the OFSC route, which is more straight.  300 kms is doable in one day.  That is sort of our norm for a Saturday / Sunday ride in Spanish to Elliot Lake to Thessalon and Aubrey Falls.  I didn't see Elliot Lake on your list. I recommend you head up to Elliot Lake as part of your trip and can branch from there as to which route you want to take.  Do the lake runs between Spanish and the Elliot Lake trail as that is pretty nice.

    Thanks.

Looking to leave French River area then down to Killarney. Then next day hop across to Manitoulin, back to mainland  and west towards Thessalon. . Next day loop north and east.

Not puting a "closed" sign up, and to us the app?

    Seriously?

And then fussing b/c someone rode through when it's not posted?

We don't all check online guides when we ride.

Heck, some of us don't even have a computor in our pocket. (believe it)

If there wasn't a sign, then no-one has any business being upset at someone riding through.

You don't have one in your pocket, but you have one at home before you leave obviously, as you are on this website

Yep, the vests were the first for market. And than they started building them into the suits, but at a cost of 5 grand.

Ive been away from racing for almost 7 years now .. and im sure the technology has grown leaps and bounds.

Where did you race? Just curious, because I believe they were testing them at SOAR around the time I quit racing. Forget if it was Bickle who brought them or Fawaz.

I Have never been reimbursed for expenses.  I’ve known that the club doesn’t do it, and I’m ok.   It doesn’t stop me from helping.   I can however see how some volunteers may be deterred by the lack of reimbursement

I never expected to be reimbursed, and the $40 will not impact my life, just curious what others have experienced
