  1. Towed many a trailer with the 4.8 and still can't believe how much better the 5.3 is.  Gosh all you add to the 4.8 is my 600 ace motor and what a difference.   There was a thread last year and PLC stated the numbers for towing the inline vs the 2 wide.  I did get another 2 wide,  maybe I should have got the inline,     hey Blake,     maybe  we got the trailers mixed up  that day.  Fuel milage dropped  5 liters per 100 km and that's empty.

The OFSC insurance is ONLY insuring snowmobile use not supplying free insurance for non OFSC users such as hikers and skiers.

I was going to ask you Bill what is the status of the Seguin ?  I was wondering if there will be issues

Elmira club is in the same boat. As is Hillsburgh.

From what I can see, I will have to trailer to ride this year.

    Bridgeport club is landlocked.

Yup  If something doesn't change the Fat Lady can start to sing   It's not the  lack of snow that will kill our sport here  its this issue.   Just another nail in the coffin       I bought a new ATV     glad it wasn't a sled

I know, but that what I was told today, crap they don't even paint new bridges today One of the first one was out Cortice way,let it corrode to a certain point, then it stops,no paint to hold the moisture in is the theory I guess.

    Eagle Bridge      Kitchener    Pre rusted

  5. Thanks Brian  I didn't go there yet.    Heard about FEB last night   Will go there next    Just reading Lake Conestoga FB comments and got me thinking    All this land ......  GRCA   controls......who owns it,  sure isn't them,  they manage the land on behalf of the municipalities.  They shouldn't even be given the LUP to sign   It should go right to the Municipalities

  6. Thought I would revisit this thread and add to it that there are problems with Grand River Conservation Authority  ( GRCA ) in our area.  I have heard it's on Face Book that trails are not going to be allowed on their areas.  It's about insurance that needs to be in place all year from what I understand. Sort of the problem this thread is about ? Don't know much else........but.... don't we have an MTO permit..... and doesn't the OFSC have sort of an agreement with the MTO........ and isn't that the government........so what gives ????

weak point on those lifts is the turn screw, especially if you use a cordless drill to turn it (don't ask how I know)

Replaced the screw with an hydraulic ram, and it worked better. Another weak spot is the casters.

Agreed,  I have only used the manual crank,  heard others have had issues when using the drills or impacts  still put some stands under the sled since I need to get under to change the oil   Also need to put some 2 x 4 s  at the running boards on my sleds to keep them level   and the casters are crap, have only the back 2 on so can move lift around with no sled

  8. Well what a good thread as I just came up from the basement for lunch  Have been down there in the Snowmobile club "office" all morning tossing out old files not needed.  Have a ton of papers from  Bridgeport Cub, Golden Triangle, and D5.  Started with Bridgeport 1985 as Secretary and now right back at it as Secretary Treasurer.  Was Prez for 9 years.    GTSA on the board, 2005, and Prez the last three years of it's existence. Yup lots of financials prepared by PLC,   you always had everything done right !!!    Trail prep, Trail patrol, Grooming on and on ....  been alot of fun

Pretty sure that will fall into business use as too much of a gray area.

Besides, most that have one likely have a business so they will have the sticker.

Which makes me wonder how home depot third party equipment rentals got around the Yellow sticker with the gear they rent nowadays.

Funny you mentioned that. I was in the Home Depot in Waterloo and talking with the rental guy. There were yellow stickers on the dump trailer there and he had mentioned that it's up to you to be legal and you sign off on that when you rent. He said one guy didn't return with the trailer. He was stopped  and he wasn't legal,  everything was impounded. Home Depot basically didn't know where their trailer was.  They had his credit card so they just kept charging him  (if there was any credit left ).

But the cube van probably was already over the 4500 Kg.  I believe if you tow a trailer with a vehicle of lesser weight that is yellow stickered, then the combined weight comes into play.  If the GVWR of a vehicle is 3000 Kg, then as long as the combined weight is under 4500 Kg then the trailer does not need a sticker, even if the truck has one.

I think that is the point mike37 was trying to make.  Part of the confusion is when do you use actual weight (if running empty) or the GVWR of the trailer.

I agree with SJ    Cube van is stickered on its own so obviously the trailer needs sticker since you use a total GVWR    Another idea is to use a SUV ,  Yukon, Suburban. Expedition etc and leave the seats in ( so it's not considered commercial) and everything is exempt from annual safeties.  Go figure ............

If the truck and trailer combined gross weight is over 4,500kg you need yellow stickers.

Technically any tandem axle trailer needs a yellow sticker.

yes that is true but    very    very    very    sadly this combination needs yellow stickers too,    1/2 ton chev 1500 silverado  GVWR 7200 lbs plus a single axle hybrid prostar sled trailer with a GVWR 2990    Total is 10190 lbs or 4622 kg, over by 122 kg  Sad but the numbers don't lie.

Hey Nick, for what its worth,  its only about 35 km. of quick trail further down to Petawaw and the Quality Inn & suites is just across the road from the trail. Good restaurant out front. Fuel about a km. before the hotel.

    k k  Thanks for info

Glad you brought this thread to life. Somehow missed STG's  Yamaha bashing :) but otherwise wonderful lodging  report.

The Deep River sub-trails are incredible. There's a paper map - limited to those trails. Make sure you procure one before venturing out up into  the hills. Trails are more like roads. Wonderful.

Bear's Den was awesome during prior RAP tours.

Thanks Canuck       Bears Den is booked    Stuff is really booking fast
