What do you expect? We have very little police presence on the trails especially in the south and what little trail patrol used to be able to do has been decimated by the OFSC exec. The easier it is for those that want to drink and ride to get away with it, the more of it will happen. JMHO

x2    and has always been going on along with cannabis      another reason I wear a teck vest

Of course we actually have trails and wifey has us booked to fly out on Sat to the D-R for a week.   Guaranteed, the snow will be gone when we get back.

Ya  that is my fear too     So we were away first week of January     nothing to do then     and my wife and girlfriends are away end of Feb  and so I can get some major  sledding in   Eveyone wins  LOL   I know  off topic  LOL

I guess my frustration is that this whole fiasco seems hit or miss. Trails are good to go 'here' w/ the current OFSC insurance/LUP & the same authority has a problem 'there'...

that's the way I see it too    we are one trail system

So according to the NCDN statement it is OPG that the issue is with. Am I correct in thinking OPG is the power generating business and Ontario Hydro is the transmission (line & tower/pole) business.

I'm thinking OPG owns the dam and therefore the road over the dam. Maybe they own or control some of the property south of the dam as far as Redsucker Creek on the west side as well.

Makes sense Brian     Side note :  Ontario Hydro was split up and Hydro One is the transmission part  I know since I have been billed ( or say gouged ) by them for 20 years and now they switched me to Waterloo North Hydro...and my bills have been reduced.

Coverage is not limited by time.  It's for "normal operations of a snowmobile club" 365 days a year.  Volunteers working on trails in the off season is normal use.  Providing coverage for a landowner for a hiker accessing their property with the landowners permission is not normal use (regardless of time of year).  This is the issue.  Municipalities/ gov't owned agencies trying to push this liability on the clubs.  It's more complicated than this when you start running possible scenario's, but that's the heart of the issue at hand.  Glad to see things have been dealt with in Ottawa.

Thanks for the comments and yes great news that things in Ottawa are working out

There were some posts on this and a copy of a Facebook post by 3 bears on one of the OC forums a few weeks ago Nick. Nice to see the place opened again. What type of food was available and how was it?

We were behind schedule and didn't eat but looked very good    Next time for sure    We went over after getting fuel, which we do to support Shining Tree camp, checked things out and headed back down to Auld Reekie.

  7. Just thought I would start this thread since I didn't know anything about 3 bears being started again    We stopped there and there was food   Anyway I wasn't aware and I know that someone on the forum will have info etc.  Just more info for everyone.

  8. So here is a hypothetical issue to consider.   Since the OFSC insurance is not 12 months of the year, not sure when it is active, but we as volunteers and some of us as landowners should NOT be doing any type of OFSC trail work in the time when there is no insurance.  Saying this because I would only think that alot of clubs do work  perhaps in the summer as an example ?
