Does this mean they won't be leaving their community to visit others for any reason....don't leave and travel to the GTA for work, doctors, etc.

I doubt there is much reason to travel to the GTA, we tend to avoid the GTA as much as possible anyway.

Believe it or not, there are doctors, work, etc outside T.O.

One of my concerns about riding this season is that Hiawatha is doing now to control the spread of Covid-19. Hopefully once the snow is on the ground they will ease the restrictions.  Every season I do a day loop ride which goes through the Hiawatha area to Campbellford and back. Other areas may introduce similar restrictions.

Hiawatha to stop visitors from COVID-19 hot spots from visiting businesses

Area First Nations communities continue efforts to keep their communities safe

    Peterborough This Week
    Thursday, November 19, 2020

Hiawatha First Nation is banning people from COVID-19 hot spots from visiting businesses in the community.

At a Peterborough Public Health media conference on Nov. 18, Hiawatha Chief Laurie Carr said there are restrictions in place in the community to not allow those from hot spots in the province, such as Toronto, Peel, York Region and Ottawa, to enter the First Nation.

According to the mandate listed on Hiawatha’s website on COVID-19, the First Nation is taking the pandemic seriously as well as the health of all its citizens, especially those most vulnerable. First Nations are at greater risk of becoming ill from COVID-19 due to higher incidents of diabetes, heart disease and cancers.

    Good for them!

Hiawatha is directly across the lake from me, and one of the very few sled accessible gas locations in this area.

As there is only one access road in they can control visitors. Not sure how they will handle people coming in from the lake.

I was hoping our community would take similar actions, as "The Green Mile" is 5 mins away from me, with over 8000 cars a day coming through. They have imposed a mandatory mask rule, as of last week.

District 2 has paper map this year, and I believe 3, 6 and 7 as well. Contact the district office for whichever area you are looking for and they can confirm

District 3 is not producing maps this year. We have an over supply from last year, and there has not been any major changes in the areas trails. (so far)

  4. Just saw this news update from OFSC called Trails To Ride 2021

     https://www.ofsc.on.ca/2020/10/08/ofsc-health-safety-plan/?fbclid=IwAR22siC8T54j7GLksr9hcq1wgnLilplBhWUbhazU-_kqK5NdZiW96J6oHMg

Supposedly it is a 33 page document of guidelines for prepping trails and riding them this winter.

However I have been unable to find it on their site.

Does anyone have any info on where this document can be found???

  5. Toronto show cancelled/postponed.

    For Immediate Release
    September 15, 2020
    POSTPONED Due to COVID-19
Toronto International Snowmobile, ATV & Powersports Show
    October 23, 24, 25, 2020 - International Centre

We would like to start off by thanking the powersports community for their unwavering support for the upcoming Toronto Snowmobile, ATV & Powersports Show, we appreciate all of the supportive phone calls, emails and social media postings regarding opening the show in October.

However, we have come to a point where we simply cannot get a firm answer from the Ontario Government on what the regulations and restrictions are in regard to opening a Trade Show come October.

We have fought tooth and nail to work with Health officials to safely open, and we have offered even more precautionary measures in our reopening plan than the local malls and big block stores, and still we are left without firm answers, and finally to only be pushed back again. We see thousands of people gathering at local malls, retail plazas and stores and we feel that we should be allowed to operate with the same parameters as those businesses, but that is not the case.

At this time, we have no choice but to make the decision, and for our exhibitors, we regrettably are forced to cancel the 2020 Toronto International Snowmobile, ATV & Powersports Show.

We will be in touch with each of the exhibitors to discuss this in further detail and to honour any deposit or refund pertaining to the 2020 TISAPS.

Again, we have fought for the powersports industry and we as enthusiasts are greatly disappointed that we were not able to come through.

Please take care, and stay safe, and we hope to see you at TISAPS 2021, October 22, 23, 24, 2021.

    Sincerely
    Richard Kehoe,
    TISAPS Staff

  6. Ordered 13 permits last week, very easy, no problems.

I ordered 13 permits, one for myself and one for each of the dozen club members that don't have/use computers, therefore they don't have email addys. Two of the members don't have or use credit cards, so I pay for them with my card and they reimburse me.

Nope.  Just get your phone connected to wifi where it exists.

how do you know where it exists?

Plus I wouldn't know how to connect it, if I did know where it exists.

guess I'll have to go back to Walmart and get the kid at the counter to set it up again for me.

You do NOT need data on your phone (or tablet) to use the Imotoneige app. Or the OSFC excuse for one.

Maybe they studied the PQ one and took some notes this year and fixed it. Who knows.

Download it on WIFI and use the GPS in your phone.

It won't update on the trail, but the OFSC one was so slow at that, my fingers would drop off before any change occurred anyway.

Quebec has much more than a geographic advantage.

The province does the math, and realizes that for every dollar they spend, they reap dividends. Ask anyone who has ever unloaded a sled in the province.

My worry about the OFSC is my local club following the path of the Snowbirds.

The stuff I hear would make you mad enough to spit.

Pardon my ignorance with all things cell phone related, but don't you need data to get wifi and gps?

That is only the OFSC map which was never much good unless you were only riding main trails. JMHO.  The Districts will hopefully have new or one year old maps.

Copied and pasted from a Faceplant notification.

NEWS FROM QUEBEC - In their latest newsletter, the Quebec Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (FCMQ) has announced it will not be printing either a 2021 trail map or services guide to help prevent the physical spread of the virus. Riders are encouraged to use their online trail guide and iMotonegie app instead.

Personally I like and use the paper maps. Don't have data or GPS on my phone ( too expensive), so an app is not an option, besides reception on the phone is spotty at best.

  10. I went through this a few years ago.

First off, are they new or used sleds?

If new, you should get an ownership from the dealer. If used the MTO requires a notarized letter from a dealership noting Make, model, year and vin number.

You can then get a non-plated (sic) ownership.

If your only using them on your own property, I assume they could just added them to your home policy. I didn't insure the ones I had as they weren't worth more than $1K

    Hope this helps

PS check with MTO as things may have changed.
