You probably won't either. It's been tested with the 1200, just too many ways to starve the scavenging pumps for oil and run the block dry. 900 lubrication system is similar in design and pump location.
Correct. Mountain sleds are on their side or upside down too much to make a 4 stroke work lubricate the engine properly.

Its full (online anyhow) .

Possibly an 850 H.O. variant in various Freestyle/Summit/Backcountry trims.
Can't see how BRP thinks that a Turb'd 850 2S plant won't have reliability issues, especially given the demographics of "Mountain Sled" sales are of the "ride it until it dies or just send it" crowd, then complain about it being the biggest pos on FB and other online venues...
It is an 850HO. The big question is what will make it an "HO"?

Summit 850HO. Factory Turbo .

I hate to be "Negative Nelly" but I predict another year in SW Ontario where the trails do not get opened up for anymore than a week or 2.

Update. Sled motor was torn apart and it was a crank bearing that seized up. It was going to happen regardless who was riding the sled.

+11c and raining hard in Stratford. I guarantee that the restoration guys will be busy this weekend with flooded basements.

I think I'm going to be a minority here and say that if I lent my sled to someone, and it blew up due to mechanical failure, there is no way I would ask them to pay for it, unless they caused said mechanical failure. If I sent them on their way, full tank of gas, full tank of oil, greased skid and good bearings, and the engine just puked that is in no way their doing, and it would have happened to me riding it as well..to ask your friend for money is profiteering in my mind.
I fully agree with "you break it, you fix it (or buy it)" ... but not with "if it happens to break while you were using it, you fix it (or buy it)". That's extreme in my mind.
Paul.
I am of this mindset as well. If the failure was of no fault of the rider and was going to happen regardless of who was riding it at the time then its just one of those things that can happen. I know my buddy offered the owner $1000 as he doesnt want any hard feelings. I am not sure what the owners reponse was.

This one is a really tough call. I am normally of the opinion that if "you smash it - you own it" but a motor puking it a pretty grey area. This was a 2016 MXZ800 XRS with 3000kms. It wasnt an old POS. It just puked running down the trail at 50mph. My buddy was not beating the sh-t out of it.
I very rarely lend my stuff to anyone and I am very selective on who uses it. I had a good buddy borrow my early build 2003 ZR900 with 200 miles on it so he and his wife could go sledding for a weekend. Of course, she clipped a tree and smacked the sled up a bit. My buddy walked into my office on Monday morning and threw his cheque book down on my desk and explained what happened and offered to buy the sled for what I paid for it 2 weeks earlier. It turned out it wasnt as bad as it looked and it was as good as new for $1500. The principal was that he offered to just buy the sled and call it a day.

How would you handle this? A buddy (yes for real) borrowed another friends MXZ800 to take to Cochrane on the weekend. Through no fault of his own, the motor on the 800 grenaded. My buddy who borrowed the sled feels awful but yet he did nothing wrong and the sled would have puked no matter who was riding it. If this happened to you, would you feel obligated to fix the guys motor? I tend to be of the opinion that it was going to blow no matter what. If my buddy thumped a tree and smashed it, then its no question he is on the hook but this one is a tough call.

Even Stratford isn’t getting snow it use too either and allot of other area’s. Funny thing is past few summers haven’t been that hot either and springs have been cool and wet. Hopefully winter returns soon, after all it is Canada. Next two weeks doesn’t look like anything like a classic Canadian winter forecast either, but can change overnight..
Yup. I live in Mitchell and on a "normal" year I can sled from my back door. We dont have any snow here to speak of. In fact, I raked my lawn on Boxing Day. With the warm temps and the lack of snow in the long range forecast for this area, I cant see us getting out in January at all . I love sledding but I only have 2-3 more years left in me if we dont get at least 1 good winter locally soon.

Freakin F150, just out of warranty of course, had windshield washer intermittent freezing take place on the way up. Yeah yeah used -45 expensive rainEx and this was not the problem...have to get rid of this particular flow back valve that apparently is the problem. No fun on the highway without the washers.
My 2019 has been good but I ended up taking a small drill bit and drilled out the back flow valve on my 2016 F150. Problem solved.

Consider Amos instead. The Amosphere has large modern rooms and the restaurant is the best in the area
Amos is my go to spot the last couple of years. The Amosphere is right on the trail, has lots of parking, indoor storage and the restaurant is really good. We always get a suite for a few bucks more money.

I stayed at the Forestel last year and had one of the best dinners I have had in a long time. It was not inexpensive but it was really good . The rooms are really nice as well. Honestly, probably too nice for a sled trip.
-
Nice report. I hope to head to Amos in a couple of weeks. We always stay at the Amosphere.

Thinking about getting rid of my 6x12 enclosed dirt bike hauler and my Triton clamshell and just going to 1 longer v-nose trailer. I want to be able to carry 3 long track sleds. Will a 7x19 cut it or do I need to look at a longer one?

The Companion is generally my go-to in Hearst. Heated sled storage and the restaurant is quite good.

I hate to sound all negative but after 3 crappy winters in Southern Ontario I cant see a lot of people getting their kids into sledding. Probably different in Northern Ontario though.

You can bet Yamaha will release an identical sled and call it the SnoSport... probably at a higher price too.
It will probably be called the Enticer or ET400.

TD declined me becuase I had 2 windshield claims in 2years on my insurance record. I tried to explain that at the time I had 5 cars insured so it really wasnt a huge deal. They told me I was too high risk. Bastards called me wanting to quote my house this year. I told them to f-off.

I went to Bayfield last night for dinner and it was storming like a SOB at times. 50km/h max from Seaforth to Bayfield. I bet they got 6-8".

Agreed. Really nice rooms and the dinner that we had there was awesome. Not inexpensive by any stretch though.

They have rooms for Friday but not Sat. I am thinking about trailering to ville marie on Friday. Riding to RN on Friday afternoon, stay at Quality Inn friday night, heading to Amos on Sat and then back to the truck in VM on Sunday.
